... to nominate a member/members to represent the PCP in a challenge competition being run by the TRPD Cooks and Crooks Project Group.
All that is required, is to write and submit up to three entertaining, interesting and/or informative, short pieces of work about specific seasonal vegetables.
Please bear in mind that these can be personal, intimate, observations, or perhaps childhood memories based on school dinners. They are NOT looking for anything resembling a thesis worthy of a renown horticulturalist! No, rather something that could be presented by an after-dinner speaker at a harvest supper attended by adults.
The vegetables chosen this year are: Sprouts; turnips and leeks.
Entries may be about any one or more of these, and it is suggested that pieces should be between 500 and 1,000 words.
There is no entry fee, and there are no prizes. (Just the prestige of representing, and hopefully winning, for one's favoured TRPD group. (And having a bit of intergroup fun.)
Please post your entries in this thread by 21st September, so that we can then add a poll to decide which three pieces by our members will go on on to represent the PCP.
It might help to imagine that you are actually speaking after a meal, and about the subject/vegetable/s chosen, and just draft it as you would speak. You can then edit and tidy it up afterwards, and before posting here.
If anyone would prefer their piece to appear here anonymously, please PM it to me, and I'll post on your behalf with a pseudonym.
Have fun, and I'll look forward to reading the entries.
