ENVIRONMENT AGENCY URGES COMPANIES TO SIGN UP TO WEEE COMPLIANCE SCHEMES... The WEEE Regulations will implement the EU WEEE Directive on 1st July 07 and aims to encourage more recycling, recovery and re-use, and ultimately divert more used goods away from landfill. There is a fat-ball bird feeder up for grabs to the first person who posts what WEEE stands for.

EC Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment, by increasing re-use and recycling and reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. It seeks to achieve this by making producers responsible for financing the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment, and by obliging distributors to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.

I know I am relapsing a bit with the FM and a bit foggy, but when I first read it, I thought it has something to do with incontinence/incontinenece pads or disposable nappies! Anyway, I shall send you a fat ball bird feeder.

Does this mean we can return old tellies to the telly shop and old washing machines to the washing machine shop etc? What is meant by a distributor?
I know when I bought a new washing machine the company refused to take my old one away free of charge...they would take it but only if I paid more.
