Such a tragic loss to not only her family and friends but also all of those rescues that Al worked tirelessly to help.
My thoughts and love are with those that she has left behind .
Rest in Peace Al. xxx

Thanks for the email Viv and Co - so very sorry to hear about the sad news of Al's passing. Like a number of people on this forum I had never met her in person, but her warmth and kindness came through in her emails, PMs, and all the acts of kindness she did for those around her, not least through all her work with trpd.
Al, I'm glad for you that your passing was swift, and I hope pain-free, but very sad for all those you sadly left behind. Thinking of her family (human and furry) at this very sad time.

I'd like to add my tribute to Al on behalf of Sighthounds Online and on a personal level.
Al was a great spirit, generous and brave. She suffered all sorts of physical trials and bore them without complaint. She just carried on working for the dogs.
When I said that I was nervous of transporting dogs with ordinary collars she came up with the Going for The Dogs project and produced hundreds of martingale collars to keep dogs in transit safe. These are now scattered about the country as a memento of her kindness.
She often sent me freebies for my rescues and donated items for the SOL auctions.
Al also had a great sense of humour and we had great chats on msn.
It was only this summer that I started visiting regularly and Al would cook up some bacon butties which we'd eat outside the workshop and chat while watching the birds. Going up to Llys TreRobert was good for the soul.
We'll all miss her whether we knew her personally or not. We all sort of knew her and felt supported by her.
I pray that someone will carry on her legacy and preserve her beloved bird garden in her memory.
Rest in peace, Al. If you had to go, I'm glad it was quick and painless. But I still don't really believe you've gone.

Am so saddened to hear of Al's passing. I felt she was a dear friend although we had never met. Do not stand by my grave and weep I am not there I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awake in the moning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there I did not die. Al has left such a wonderful legacy of love so let us do our best to continue her work in helping all animals in need. My thoughts are with her family

What sad, sad news - I only knew Al through TRDP - but her devotion to Rescue was so apparent. Thinking very much of her family and friends who will be missing her greatly.

I havent been here much recently but Al was some-one who always had time to help with the dafest of questions. We had some fun pms over the years.
so many dogs have been helped by Al, DASH dogs and our poundies with collars and leads. She was an inspiration to so many and its hard to believe she has gone.
Likes others have said though- she wont have gone alone, so many of the 4 legged friends will have waited to go with her.
My condolances to her family. Al always dealt with her illness so matter of factly and rarely did we know just how she did feel, it was a priviledge to have known her

Such a shock - what a great loss to her family, friends and the wider rescue community. I know Angela Hogan was so grateful for Al's and TRPD's support for Tailends during it's lifetime. I hope Al is reunited with all her four-footed friends who have gone before. My thoughts are with her family at the loss of this truly remarkable woman. RIP Al. Love Suzie xxx

Sorry to be so late adding to this, I have been without an internet connection since Thursday.
I am still shocked and saddened by Al's passing, even though it's been almost a week. RIP Al, we will all miss you, no one could have done more to help so many rescues and rescued animals.
For those who are wondering, I have been assured that Al's pets and horse are being well looked after. She had so many good friends who were lucky to know her.

####I'm still awaiting definite confirmation but my understanding is that Al's funeral will be this Friday 8th October, at 2.15pm at Pontypridd crematorium.
I believe this to be:
Glyntaff Cemetery & Crematorium Cemetery Road Pontypridd Mid Glamorgan CF37 4BE
Several people have kindly asked about Al's animals - the chickens and ducks have gone to the stables [who already have poultry]; the horses and dogs are being cared for by family and friends. Help may be required in the near future... and we will post if this is the case.
The above has also been added to the first post.

I'm planning to go to the funeral - does anybody need a lift (between Bristol and Cardiff we could arrange a pick-up) or is anybody coming this way (near Bristol/Bath) and could pick me up / park car and hop into mine? The drive to and fro might be a bit easier not alone....
(please send pm if you'd like to arrange something)
