The TRPD Cross Stitch project is currently undergoing a revamp and this board has been created to let you, the members and guests, follow the progress and also, when the time comes, request commissions ;D As well as charting cross stitch designs from submitted photographs, I am developing an exclusive TRPD range of charts which promise to be really fab. Quick and easy to stitch, they will make for great weekend projects and gifts At some point soon I shall be appealing for the cross stitchers out there in our membership ranks to make yourself known so that you can hopefully complete some trial projects. The demand on your time will be minimal and having a stitched sample that we can photograph will make all the difference to the presentation of the charts that will go out to the 'paying customers.' Please keep an eye on this board and volunteer if you think you can help. Regards Jane

I am an avid cross stitcher when permitted. I love the Ross Original collection - this is his palomino.

Gosh, Sue, that's a fab picture! That's bigger than any project that I have even dared to take on. And my last big project took me two years to complete ;D Reading, willing and not so able in my case! But I think that's a gorgeous picture of a palomino And I take it that you 'might' be willing to stich up a sample or two (v. quick projects) for illustrative purposes for us? Jane

I am happy to volunteer, although I am not an experienced cross stitcher so perhaps had better be sent the easier samples for starters!
My mum really loves doing cross stitch (and embroidery too) but her eye sight is going and unfortunately she finds black and white very very difficult to do these days.
I have a couple of friends with children (about 10 - 12 years) who might like to volunteer too, but again probably only very basic samples...they quite like to join in things - as for all kids with anything new, the novelty tends to wear off of course!

Sure no problem - I should be starting one for my daughters who's expecting in november. I've done a German Shepherd and a Snow Tiger which I'm going to frame myself. I thought about doing some advent calenders - The pattern I was looking at had little pockets to put chocolate in.

i'm a cross stitcher, and willing to have a go with some test/samples Thanks, Helen! So that's three, plus me, and some sundry neighbours who may be roped in I hope to have some stuff done within the next few weeks. It would then need to be discussed and debated by the powers that be and any changes made. Then I hope to be able to get some charts out to you chaps, so that the illustrative photo for the chart pack can be made. I'll shall keep you all up to date. Jane

Sue, Helen and Alison Can you let me know if you have a preference as to which dog breed sample you stitch? For example if you have a spaniel you might like to stitch that one because they chances are they will come back to you at some point. If you have no preference, then let me know. Also, do you have supplies of linen, aida and threads yourselves? Anything more specific, I can't tell you just yet. Trust me, I am progressing, albeit slowly Jane

Slightly bias to GSD but I don't mind - I have a small gsd suitable for cards etc. I also have a Basset Hound that is completed, fairly large, I have thread and aida, some linen.

I have done small projects in the past, did my own christmas cards last year etc, have quite a supply of threads and have a handy shop nearby to stock up on things. As name suggests any Springer Spaniels would be my favourite. Haven't done anything in a while, I think I may go and dig out my threads and feel inspired

I am happy to go out and purchase the requisite materials. (unless my mum has left her box lying around in which case I wil raid it!) My dogs are a border collie and a shih-tzu but I really don't mind what I stitch. I am looking forward to it!

no preferences here, i'm willing to have a go at anything, (unless of course there is something resembling Toppo, sort of small black and mongrelly then i'd have a go at that) got a huge box of assorted threads here, and plenty of aida somewhere, so no problem with materials, looking forward to getting started now, especially with the dark nights closing in.

Hi Jane, have got the pack and made a start on it last night...so far so good. It is a lovely chart and big enough to see which is helpful. I had a word with the chap in the local needlecraft shop about it and he said it was lovely. His only comment would be about the "split" stitches...well those may not have been his exact words. (complete novice here - well I think perhaps I had a little go at it when I was in junior school needlework classes....I was the sort that would sew my piece of work to my skirt by mistake...) The shopkeeper said in his experience of selling charts the market is reduced to 1/4 if there are stitches that are between aida holes...I wonder if you will know what I am talking about (I admit it I'm hopeless. ) As a complete novice I am very pleased with how the thing is looking so far. (but don't look at the back -the chap in the shop kindly assured me not to worry about the back!) It took me 2 hours to do 9 letters of the writing! I have no idea if this is normal rate of working or if it is incredibly slow. I will update when I have progressed a bit further! ;D I am enjoying it anyway. Alison

Thanks for the feedback, Alison. I know that the border on it is going to be the tricky part, which is where the 'split' stitches will be. Not such a problem if you're stitching on linen, but a bit trickier on aida. Still, hopefully it will look good at the end so the effort will be worthwhile. And don't worry about the back at all - it's the front that we need a photograph of. Then it will grace the front of the chart pack I have been working on two more this past weekend which should be ready within a few days (if I can find where I put those darned bone buttons!). Laylasmum and Helen, these two have your names on them. Can you please PM me with your addresses? Thanks.
