Well done, Ruth - and a great example for others to see how to show their answers, too. Here's another practice one, but harder this time... Numbers: 75 25 9 1 8 2
Target: 339

25x2=50 50x8=400 400-75=325 325+9-=334 334+1=335

I got 335 by 2 different routes: 9+1 = 10 x 25 = 250 +8 +2 +75 = 335
75 x 8 = 600 /2 = 300 +25 +9+1 = 335

So far can get 311 (I'm sure I should get nearer than that!) 50x6 = 300 +8+2+1 = 311 I don't suppose we can use decimal points can we? 100/(8-1) = 14.29 +(50x6) = 314.29

Maths has never been my strong point so the best i can do is 710
75 x 9 = 675 + 25 = 700 +8 = 708 +1 = 709 + 1 = 710

Nearest I can get is 850: 9+1+1 = 11 x 75 = 825 + 25 = 850

Think I might have got 852 but not sure if it's right:
75-25 = 50
X (8+9) 17 = 850
+ 1 + 1 = 852
