At last, here are the classes for the photo show that many have been waiting for.
Entry is FREE, and there will be small prizes for each first place, and along the lines of packets of seeds, postcards, fridge magnets etc.
Competitors must only post their own, original photos and that have not been entered in internet based shows before.
Please DO NOT post your photos in THIS Thread - instead, I will post separtate ones for each class, and to make a voting poll easier for the panel of independent judges. (Who will be appointed from members not competing.)
The photo show will run from later today until 30th June, to give members a chance to grow things they may wish to enter.
Classes.
1. The most imaginative photo of more than one variety of homegrown, edible produce.
2. The most inspiring tub, planter or hanging basket display.
3. The most attractive garden view/scene.
4. The most beautiful flower border picture.
5. Wild birds and beasts shots - no pet photos in this class, please.
6. Best 'Bug Shot'.
7. Pesky pets with less than perfect plants! (Bunny bolting brocolli, puss-flattened poppies, dog-eared daisies etc.)
Do please be creative when framing your pictures. At least two judges will be looking specifically at creativity and artistic merit!

Yay! Brilliant! (hah! I knew I couldn't post this mornings "feel good factor" yet!!!) But what do you mean with this: Are the photos supposed to be displayed with pretty frames then? Being a bit dim - which programmes let you do that as I haven't got Corel anymore? Thank you ever so

Not 'pretty frames' surrounding pictures, Jutta, but meaning when framing the shot in the camera's viewfinder. (I also think they may mean 'framing the subject' - i.e. Robin (subject) against background that it doesn't get lost in, such as huge bush/tiny robin; tiny beetle (subject) lost in massive expanse of lawn, etc.) Creative angles when taking shots can be brilliant, and I can recall a photo taken from below a robin that was perched on the handle of a spade, and that showed only sky beyond the bird, which was looking down at the photographer, as if asking what the dickens they were doing down there! Sometimes, distorted proportions or perspective can really work well and be artistic... but not always! (E.g. A horse's rear nearest the camera can be enormous compared to a little head poking around to see what one is doing, and can look ridiculous.

I'm running around with the camera all the time now - and haven't managed a single decent photo yet! Oh - I suppose this is supposed to be one's own and not e.g. my neighbour's? (I haven't got a flower border and I can't say that my garden is very attractive... but of course with D&B in it ANY garden is immensely attractive ) 2. The most inspiring tub, planter or hanging basket display. 3. The most attractive garden view/scene. 4. The most beautiful flower border picture

Please can I ask if those of you who won multiple classes would rather have three little prizes of a small value, or one better prize with a greater value? Thanks.

I really don't mind, Nik, whatever is easiest! Actually, I don't need a single prize - unless Al has got something ready that can go to a rescue to help?

Thanks. I believe the prizes intended for this are more personal and suited to garden lovers than animals, Jutta. Al managed to get out to a nursery yesterday, or was passing one, and if you'd prefer the single, higher value prize, I have a good idea what these will be, and wouldn't mind one myself. We'll get those organised within the next few days, as Al has a medical appointment later today, and I'm supposed to be working but had a meeting cancellation. It seems there's a 24 hour sickness bug doing the rounds of the company I'm supposed to be visiting. Hope to goodness I don't catch it.
