Dogs - all breeds, Cats and small animalsAnimal Concern Cumbria are a registered charity: 513091 It's aim is "to promote kindness and suppress cruelty to animals and to attend generally to the welfare of all animals in need of care and protection. They do not believe that any animal should be destroyed for want of a home" West Cumbria Branch houses a maximum of 15 dogs in it's kennels. As they have limited volunteers, the first need for the charity would be for people to come forward and offer just an hour of their spare time to help to walk the dogs, fundraise or help in whatever way they could. (designing posters, helping to post adverts, street collections, attend fundraising events for an hour to help 'man' a stall, etc..) Items which the charity could use would be: Toys,Treats (which we use for rehab and training) Tennis Balls, Bandages, Gauze, shampoo for dogs, waterproof/fleece dog coats (any sizes), washing up liquid, Bin bags Towels, Collars, nylon leadsFood (Tinned Chappie would be great as it's the only food Fizz can eat) envelopes, paper, unused stamps etc... Cat food, toys & accessories Hamster, Rabbit, Guinea pig hutches/cages Small animal foods and accessories and any bric a brac to sell to raise funds for veterinary treatment & food. All items donated and offers of help no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated. I'm sorry, we can't collect items. Would you like to help Fizz find a home? Contact
Our Rehoming Officers: 0782 1040390
If you are unable to help by donating items or working directly with the animals, we are always in need of committed people who have a variety of computer or literacy skills and would be able to assist with the promotion of our animals needing homes, designing posters.

Welcome to the PCP board Linda, it's good to see the rescues posting on here, and hopefully it will prove beneficial. Lots of goodies for the animals Why not have a look around, and make yourself at home.

Welcome to the PCP board Linda, it's good to see the rescues posting on here, and hopefully it will prove beneficial. Lots of goodies for the animals Why not have a look around, and make yourself at home. Thanks for your lovely Welcome Fenja's mum, but it isn't Linda (she doesn't have internet access). It's Luc's mum who posts on Linda's behalf. I've had a little look and it is a fantastic site.

Help on the Internet needed please...... As the only volunteer for west cumbria branch of Animal Concern, I would love to have 'backup' on the boards of which I currently post to on behalf of Animal Concern Cumbria. What we need is someone who is familiar with using a forum, and can check the boards for new posts and reply appropriately. Any offers of help will be greatly appreciated Best Regards Amanda (Luc's mum/cumbrian lass) Edited: 21/06/04 Thank You to all who offered help. We now have backup

I have just been told that the AC - West Cumbria Branch kennels, or rather the surrounding metal sheeted fencing, suffered damage during the big storm in January. If anyone has any metal sheeting, wood or fence posts going begging then I'm sure it could come in very useful at the moment. They could also do with dog blankets of all sizes, and leads and collars always come in useful of course! Jackie

You are an Well it has been 7 months now and we are still having problems with the exterior fencing. (The dogs are safe, so not worried there). If anyone is local and is willing to offer a little help or materials, please send me a message. Thanks Amanda

We need Leads & Collars. Sadly our stocks have wilted somewhat in recent months due to people turning up without a lead and collar and haven't bothered to bring them back. So if you have a nylon/non-chained lead going spare, we would be grateful for it Also with an influx of Cats, I do know that we would also appreciate Cat Litter and cat toys. All the cats are in foster homes. Thanks again for all your support Amanda

Blankets! We need lots of blankets with the cold winter months approaching, our little darlings need all the warmth they can get. So if you are local to Workington and have an old duvet/pillows/blankets spare, please think about donating them to the West Branch of Animal Concern Cumbria Thank You

Have you thought of putting an appeal in the local free press, Amanda?
Around here I can almost guarantee that if I pop an advert in local shop windows there's a good response, too.

.. and do ask your local community hospital - mine often has old blankets or towels they'd give. It is also worth it asking hotels, nursing homes, boarding schools and the like.
GOOD LUCK!

:PThanks Alison and Jutta. I hadn't thought of intergrating an appeal on our posters. Can do that, no probs I'll also ask the local hotels too. I'm sure someone said that they change thier duvets every so often, so who knows.. worth a try. Thanks again ;D

When you think how cheap duvets are nowadays, a lot of people would rather buy new ones if the old get stained with tea etc., and hotels especially don't want less than perfect ones for guests.

URGENT PLEA
West Cumbrian Branch needs Foster homes urgently for Cats and Kittens.
Linda is getting inundated with cats and kittens since the police and dogwarden are now contacting her regarding strays and unwanted litters. Currently in West Cumbria, there is no Cat Protection League or RSPCA. This is therefore putting a strain on our otherwise exhausted resources and foster homes.
If you would like to foster for the branch, please contact Jim Hewitson 01946 692178
We would prefer the homes to be local to Cumbria as this helps to ease with vetinary treatments and supply of food etc..

A lot of changes have happened in the past year concerning committee members of the branch and the way things are being run. If you would like to join a small part of a large organisation, and help animals in need of new homes then please contact Jim Hewetson 01946 692178. (No previous experience necessary)
