I'm sure Al will like her tribute to be here in Rainbor Bridge with the animals she cared so deeply for and spent so much time and effort helping. My condolences to her family and all on this board who knew her better than I did,you have lost a wonderful friend

There couldn't be a better place than Rainbow Bridge to pay tribute to Al. She was a unique individual who worked tirelessly, and often at great cost to her own health and wellbeing, to help and support the many rescues in their efforts to provide for the animals in need of their work. I know there are many of us who will be grateful not only for Al's skills at the sewing machine, but for her support and the time she devoted to listening to us and just being there for us over the years.
I hope someone will come forward and continue the work that Al did so diligently, but I fear they will not find the task of following in Al's footsteps an easy one.
Rest easy now Al, you have earned the right to respite from that sewing machine, although I am sure that if you could continue to create the many items you have in recent years you would. Enjoy yourself at the Bridge surrounded by our beloved animals, and give them a hug and a kind word from us please.
Until we meet again.
Jackie x

I am so sorry to hear this news.
I suspect there are a large number of pound dogs and strays no longer waiting patiently at the bridge but crossed over with Al, she touched so many with her generosity.
God speed Al you were one in a million and will be sorely missed.

I never knew Al be anything but kind, generous and unselfish, usually managing to fit a dose of her quirky humour in amongst all these special gifts. Looking back at recent PM's, which as Jackie said, usually ended with , it's hard to believe she has left us all so suddenly. I know Al did lots to help not only rescued animals but also people connected with rescues too. She gave so much to so many and I'm sure I don't know the half of it. I hope there is a Rainbow Bridge and that Al is there in a pretty and interesting garden surrounded by an assortment of animals and birds. I know she would like that and they would too. I can imagine Al removing all the INAH leads from the waiting dogs now under her wing & sending them back to TRPD for recycling! There must be dogs all around the country wearing TRPD collars and leads with pride which is a lovely and very fitting tribute. My 3 are wearing theirs here which sadly now link them to a memory of a lost friend. I will miss you Al, like many, many more of your friends and family to whom I extend my condolences. You were an amazing and inspiring lady. Liz x P.S. Thank you Nicki for the phone call

Al was an inspiration to us all, and I shall miss her quiet good sense, kindness and sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble and the rescue world is the poorer for her going. My deepest sympathy to her family

Al touched so many people and was so generous with her time and her skills. She will be so missed.
She never complained about her own troubles - her breast cancer, her back pains, her crippling arthritis. She just went on working for the dogs. She was a great support to so many people - like Angela from Tailends throughout her illness.
I thank her for the advice, the friendship, the laughs, the GTTD collars, the coats and leads - some of them freebies. Thanks too for the peaceful times at Llys TreRobert. I felt as if I had been on holiday after a day there.
I'll always see Al sitting outside her workshop looking out over the bird garden and eating bacon butties and cream cakes - that she knew I loved.
Please may someone carry on her legacy and protect the project that she started and worked so hard to complete.

This was what my dad wrote when I e mailed him:
that is sad news about Alison. Another light gone out in lots of people's eyes . . . We liked her a lot and know that a lot of people will miss her badly. We have to just say to ourselves that we were some of many privileged to have known her and enjoyed her friendship and extreme generosity. I personally feel very pleased that I was able to help her in small measure by fixing her electric foliage grinder.
(The bit about the grinder made me smile as I had forgotten about that - it was a long time ago now! He is right though, we were priveleged to have known Al.)

I was reading her last post on this forum, and she was so selfless. People like this are very rare, and we can only hope to aspire to half the person that she was. We are deeply humbled by the work that she has done. I logged in today to a p.m. from Al, fixing a problem for me.

What a dreadful shock, for her family and friends as well as those of us on the edge who knew Al only from a distance but could see what a special lady she was. Wishing strength to her family & friends. Thank you Al for everything you did for thousands of animals, you made a difference

Sighthound Welfare Trust extends sympathy to all Al's family and friends. Al often donated items for our auctions to help needy sighthounds. The rescue world will indeed miss such a special, kind and committed person.
We will all miss her terribly.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I've not been here for a while, but I remember fondly and with a smile, conversations I had with Al on the phone.
She will be sorely missed, such a lady who gave so much of herself to help others.
Sleep tight Al, at the bridge with all those you helped, whom I know will welcome you with love and open arms.

My sympathies go out to all who knew her and her family
You know what they say, when a rescuer goes up, all the pets with no one will flock to her, as she will be their 'Mum' at Rainbow Bridge
Did she have any pets?
