I think you could probably get away with some simple eyes on some of them and I think they serve there for purpose for what they aer, they are clearly mice which was beter than my attempt at the mice, won't say what they looked like, PMSL.

When making things like the mice, I used to use little bits of felt for features and stick it in place with copydex glue.

Raiye those mice are wonderful. I don't think it's necessary to add eyes and stuff, I don't think the cats will notice I think I might have given up on mice, I've made a couple of spiders that don't look too bad though and a couple of hearts. I've attached at loop at the top of them so that people can attach them to elastic or dowelling if they want to. Sewing isn't my strong point Believe me, making a couple of things is an achievement

I don't think the cats will mind what size/shape they are as long as there's lots of catnip in them for thenm to dribble over, hehe.

My fingers hurt whine ehine.
As the catnip was dry I chucked it in the electric hand chopper and then proceeded to finish off the first batch of cat toys from down here, I've sat there for three hours solid hand sewing determined to finish them off, and they have been, hearts complete with some furry tails, some fleecy tails and some with bells on.
Enough catnip left I think for round two now that Al has sent me some more lightweight fleece and cotton offcuts. I'm going to award myself a rest though for a little while before starting that lot.

maddogwoman it really doesn't matter what shape the cat toys are, I couldn't manange the mice either, I suspect mine looked like yours, I think raiye is very talented to get her mice looking like mice. I have found two hearts sewn back to back look quite good, I have finished mine with a couple of ribbons on or a long strip of fleece for the tail. My next batch will be simple circle balls, two circles sewn back to back just to do something different. I think the cats will be pleased with them whatever the shape.

Ask in your local pet shop, you can buy a bag for about £1 - £1.50 usually, and you put about a teaspoon full in the middle of each toy.

My catnip came from the petstore on the local market. Paid a quid a packet, good size packets too, and I just chuck a couple of good pinches in each mouse. My mice are just 3 tear drop shapes, sewn pointy end together for nose, slip a small felt tail in as you sew the bum. Ears are after thoughts added erm......after! lol. I think as long as theres a "bulk" for the nip and a "tail" to entice, size and shape doesnt really matter!.

I loved fingermouse too...all these mice are so cute, I'm now in desperate need of a cat so that I can have some mice!!! Hmmm, don't think hubby is going to accept that as a good enough reason

This is Bomber playing with the most simple to make cat toy ever, even no sew so anyone can make them. You simply get a strip of material about an inch wide, tie a knot in it, add some catnip to the middle of the knot and tie a second knot over the first to make sure the catnip is as secure as it can be, then if you want to for decoration you can snip the ends to make strands of thread to entice the cat a bit more. I'll take a piccy of the actual toy later on
