Maybe its a bad year for marigolds. Last couple of years my garden was full of them and they spread like mad and looked gorgeous. This year I only have a couple of plants. Could be my garden is so overgrown this year its like a jungle

re T-shirts dumb question how large is the large ( I'm a size 10) will it be toooooo big The large is large, Sue! Small would fit someone lucky enough to be a size 10/12 I'll try and organise some more of these in due course, and in all available sizes, as they are popular for gardening events/wearing on stalls etc. If anyone wants to order in advance it'll give me a better idea of how many and what sizes to order, though. They usually come in white at £7 each, or black or grey at £8 each. Slugs have been going to town down my allotment the last few wet days. Gathered loads up and treated the ducks last night... Talking of ducks, the ducklings are doing well and seem to be growing! They are certainly eating and drinking well, and growing bolder, too. At first they hid behind 'mum' when I appeared to add more food and water, now they are coming out and looking for tucker! It doesn't take long for them to catch on! Will have to see if I can borrow an ark soon, so they can go out with their mum on the rough grass on my allotment for a bit each day - that once the weather improves!

Jutta, Martin's T-Shirt is in the post... please can you ask him to pose for a photo in it, so others can see the design - and Martin posing, of course. ;D You never know, they might nab him for the Alan Titchmarsh Show.

I was going to cut the grass (or should I say the dandylions and the moss??), but of course it's raining again. Sigh. I'm glad we have sheep on the field at the moment to do the mowing job!! ... still raining! so a grubby fingered, very knackered looking Martin posed inside - I'll try to get a better photo over the weekend, but I hope this shows it good enough. It's a nice t-shirt and Martin likes it, too. phew!

I'll start making a list of who wants what, Sue, and ready for when we have enough ordered to put an order in for several at a time. Thanks for posting the photo, Jutta and to Martin for posing for it. ;D

I've had mainly red currants and raspberries so far, something ate my tomato and bean plants! The birds stripped my cherry tree, too. Gathered various herbs, including parsley, mints and bay leaves. Oh, and had rhubarb, too. (Can I count dandelions for the salads and nettles for nettle tea? ;D )
Have pinched some peas and lettuce from my ex's and aim to pinch some of his runner beans, carrots and potatoes as soon as they are ready. However, I've grown a stack of plants at the allotment to go down to Llys Trerobert's Bird Garden, once we can safely get to work there.

Raspberries, black and red currants (loads!), broad beans, the first runner beans and yellow beans, chard (Mangold), lettuce, carrots, nasturtium leaves and flowers in salads, the 4 strawberries and the so far 1 tomato (but more to come, I hope!), cherries and plums were all killed off by some pest :-(.
I know it's naughty but .... is there a new newsletter in the pipeline at all?

I gather there's not a page of newsletter submitted yet, Jutta. It's quite normal at this time of year, and when many are busy outside rather than in and writing! I can't really add much to what I have here, but feel free to mention your bags on here if they are still available.

thought I'd share the tale of my plum trees. Years ago, I had just started working again full time and with my first months wages I told the girls in the office that I was going to treat myself to a pair of silver earrings, and went out at lunchtime to buy them
my route to the jewellers took me through Woolies, who had just some yellow plum trees marked down. They looked very pathetic, but I felt sorry for them, bought them and took them home, deciding not to have the earrings OH was incredibly dismisive, but I have suitably nurtured them over the years. this year there are so many plums that the branches are bending down, and my daughter commented that you could smell th efruit on the trees as you walk up the road. They taste wonderful too. I'm not a particularly good gardener but I'm really chuffed with these!

That sounds great! Shame you live too far away - I'd love to nick some plums!! Al, of course my bags are still for sale (on my website - "The league of chicks - local eggs for local omelettes") - I also have the photos of the thrush dropping a snail to smash it to get at the 'meat'. My new ducks (I think I may call the Khaki Campbell girls "the muffins") gave me a shock last night! When I got to the field in the evening to put them all in the fox-proof run/house, it looked like they're all in - when I got down there, I could only see the appleyards, the runner and the geese - no muffins to be seen! I went up again to look into the "day house" where they like to rest at times - no muffin. In the night house - no muffin. Now I was really worried somebody must have stolen them, but went on to clean and re-fill the baths on the biiiig day-run anyway - and when I looked back again, there was one of the muffins with the others. Looked again - and they were all there. They had all 4 hidden under the 2 currant bushes in the 'safe' run where I didn't think 4 muffins could fit!! PHEW!

There are a couple of GFG's T-shirts listed in the -Shirt sales thread, too. I think both are large, though.

Wow! You are lucky, Sue. We had a hard frost here a couple of nights ago and it killed off all the dahlias, beans, marrow and pumpkin leaves etc.

Have the grubby fingered gardeners been hibernating? No more newsletters We're having a big 'seed swap' event in our village hall on 13 February! I hope that'll be really good! AND I hope I'll be able to get some lilac lobelias, I can only find blue ones in the shops here so far and a friend of mine back home would so like the lilac ones! After all the building work re our extension, we can now try to get our garden 'in order'! Martin has already built two raised beds, one for vegetables (raised so the dogs don't wee on it ) and one for 'my' flowers! Can't wait to have a relatively nice garden again!
