Today, the new racecourse at Ffos Las, Nr. Llanelli opens with its inaugural race meeting. To help celebrate this event, and win something for a rescue of your choice, all you have to do is to pick one horse from each of the races, list them in the order their races are to be held. The winner will be the person gaining the most points from their selections - 10 points for a 1st place; 6 points for a 2nd and 3 points for a 3rd. In the unlikely event of a tie, the prize will be shared between the rescues concerned. You can find a list of all the runners at this link: Ffos Las Race Card Click this link for up-to-date live results

You only have about one hour and 10 minutes left to enter this FREE competition for a rescue's sake, as the first race starts at 6.20pm. Whatever to do, please DO NOT modify any of your posts listing your choices after 6.15pm, or you may be disqualified. Please spread the word about this bit of fun. I'll update the winners as soon as I know each result, but, to be fair, will now move my own selections down and out of the first post into one of their own, so I can modify that first post later to show the results and in order for them to be found easily.

You might care to check my results, as updated for points in each competitor's post, but I reckon that is a win for... Florrie, with 26 points! (I wonder if she had a flutter on any of them?) If there was a booby prize, then I reckon that would be mine! I didn't get one point! Probably jinxed them all, as usual, if I bet! Sue, congratulations, and I'll need to know which rescue you'd like to nominate for your prize, please.

Well done Sue Thank you Al that was fun and i don't know about anyone else but i think you might be onto something there Al with a regular race meeting type thingy and maybe we could all donate say 1.00 per race and the winner gets a decent prize for their chosen rescue and TRPD gets the remainder I would deffinately be up for that one as long as you post your pick first as that way we all know who to avoid ;D ;D ;D Thanks Al Dray x

I don't know about £1 per race, Dray, but we could all put something useful to a rescue in a pot, and the winner's nominated rescue could receive the pot's contents, perhaps?
Could perhaps do it each Saturday afternoon and just pick a race meeting? There are usually plenty to choose from on a Saturday.

I have nowt useful only money so maybe let others have a think and rarther than once a week hold it once a month and that way it would keep the price down and also keep it exciting. Maybe 50p a race Something to think about for sure

Dray, you (and anyone else who wishes) could always pledge to send money to the winning rescue, and others could send a useful item, postage stamps or whatever they have, if you like. Monthly is fine by me, but it's up to everyone to decide how often we do it, and probably to remind me then when it's due!
