Maggie came to me from Ireland with her brother (who lives with my sister) Their fear of humans is herrendous!!! We are now at a point where she will sit on the sofa with me and follow me. Should I turn around, she is gone!! We are working on that. Slowly slowly. However, walking on a harness she is terrified of her surroundings.. tho' better in open spaces. We have only taken her to the farm where we walk the dogs twice(I have 3 others) We lead and hubby walks with her ... well kinda.. we havn't pushed it but she seems towards the end to like it. BUT then she spends the next 2 days "peeing" in the house... do you think we should leave the lead training or make it more regular... your opinion would be helpful to say the least!! And human socialising where best to take her....

It sounds as if you need more specialised help that we have available here. Possibly from someone who understands and practices T-Touch, as a means to help dogs relax and overcome fears. I may even be worth your while to look that up on the net?
I'm sorry I'm not qualified to help with her problems.

Some rescues have behaviourist who can help you. I know that GRWE have several who help with any of their rehomed hounds "issues".
If you got your dog from a rescue they may be able to point you in the right direction

A good behaviourist would be a good idea (maybe you could contact "COAPE", e.g. Peter Neville or Gwen Bailey or ...). Was the dog more or less feral? Because then you'll have your work really cut out. If you have a garden where Maggie Mae can go to the loo, I'd leave it at that for the moment and just slowly work at home on accepting you and the rest of the family, friends and neighbours. But that's just my personal "gut feeling".

Thanks guys... we have been walking BUT its a chore for her.. its the lead -she just freaks... shes is getting better with people in the home environment but out unless she has met you.. its no go again... she came from a private owner who couldn't manage her or her brotherand wanted to rehome them asap..... I firmly believe that some of this is in bred as I have had this breed for 30 years and more and have NEVER come across this before..... I have tried most of what I know so anything is a help... she will get better and I know it'll take time I just don't want to make it worse for her!! Shes very sweet natured... loving and excellent with all my others!!! I just want her to be happy!!!! Soft touch
