The news has been full of the phasing out of the old type of lightbulb in favour of the energy saving ones, and when Dylan stayed here, he fitted the new type upstairs but, much asI want to help save the planet, I can hardly see to do anything in the light from these new bulbs! Reading wouldn't be possible, and if looking through clothes, thread reels and similar things, I can't distinguish the difference between some colours, let alone sew using them!
Does anyone know if there is a better option available, and that will continue to be so, once the ordinary ones have all gone? I have fluorescent tubes fitted in my kitchen and living room, but don't really want to have those fitted in the upstairs rooms. However, I especially need good lighting on the stairs/landing, and for safety sake.
Thanks.

LED lights are supposed to be much brighter.
For the time being, you can still buy 60 Watts bulbs, so you might want to get some of them to last a long time!

Hoping to get some 100 watt (or even 150 watt) ones, and have a chat with a local supplier I know. 60 watt ones just don't give enough light to work by.

What bulbs do you have in there at the moment (wattage and fitting)?

At present there are various wattage energy saving ones, mainly 60 watts, and with bayonet fittings. Impossible to work under, read, write with etc. I can't even tell the difference between colours such as black, navy, brown or even forest green when using them!
