Hi to everyone on the forum, I am a newbie and have joined due to me just rescuing (spelling ?) a Lurcher pup, he is meant to be half Bedlington, quarter whippet - quarter lurcher, he is fawn in colour and has whiskers galore all over his face and his fur is getting longer each week ( seems like it anyway ), I have been told by a couple of lurcher people that they think he is going to be quite a large dog, so this makes me wonder what the quarter lurcher was ?, I will get a photo on of him as soon as I work out how to do this. Well I have joined for another reason and that is to purchase this now 12wk old pup a nice collar and lead, your site seems to have some lovely collars and leads on here so I may as well get his size and purchase from you , not sure what size to get the little man yet but will put an order in when I have got the size worked out, it's hard with a growing pup , if anyone has any idea's or suggestions on what type of collar to go for I would like them to help me out, hint, hint . So a Big HI to all and will pop a piccy on of the little chap as soon as I work out how to do so. Not sure if a photo will come on of the little guy or not, I have tried to attach one so will have to wait and see . Unicorn and the Doglets. x Attachments:

Welcome to the group to you and you lurcher pup. I adore lurchers, and have a little old bedlington/whippet/collie/greyhound mixture of one at the moment, and aged somewhere between 13 and 15 years now, called Scampi. He's an ex-working dog who needed a retirement home some five years ago, after a number of foot/leg injuries.
They are wonderful characters with great, and often amusing, personalities.
I'd suggest you look at the Armargos sighthound house collars for a start. Those are inexpensive, lightweight and comfortable. As he's still growing, whatever you get now will, of course, need a bit of growing room, but if you don't see what you want, just let me know and I can likely make something up for him.

Gosh I did not expect to come on and see some welcomes and such nice welcomes too : ) , I will look for the house collars, I can see that my little chap has some growing to do and he is going to need an adjustable collar eventually ( I think) but the house collar seems the best bet, thanks for that. Thanks for the welcomes, Oh and my little rescue lurcher has been named 'Yaygo', all my dog's have odd names some have a meaning to them but 'Yaygo' just seemed to suit this little fella. I have never known a pups coat to grow so quickly he is getting hairier by the day, well it seems like it anyway. Look forward to more chats and meeting more people, will nip and look at some collars now, also some coats, I don't know if anyone can answer this for me but he does shiver after an outing, is this something puppy lurchers do?. Some lurchers seem to really feel the cold. My old bitch (now at Rainbow Bridge) felt it badly, even as a pup, and even used to crawl under the duvet to sleep, summer and winter! Scampi has a very thin coat, despite looking quite hairy, and he is almost bald on his chest and underneath. He's not as bad as my old bitch for feeling the cold though, but hates the rain, and shivers in that without a coat on.

Maybe the shivering is a lurcher thing then ?, 'Yaygo' has quite long hair growing on his back and face but he has quite a thin coat on his tummy and chest right now, I have been taking a look at the collars and coats and once I work out how to order them and manage to do it correctly it will just be a case of making sure I order the right size and I will get a collar and coat for him from you. Think he is going to suit a nice purple or black collar, same with coat too : ) got to have him looking good on his outings with the crew. I take it if I measure the collar he is wearing at the moment and judge the length of collar to order from that things should be fine, so glad to have been directed to this site. If you measure around his actual neck and allow a bit for growth, that should be fine for a normal collar, but measure around his head if a slip collar. To order, just copy and paste details of what you want in the respective thread/s. Details of how to pay are in a separate thread in the sales forum. Any questions, feel free to ask, and if you don't see what you want, there is a thread for orders.

Hi all, having a few problems with the collar size, I really need a grab collar for in the house but the fleece around the collar would attract the attention of my other dog's and I know that little 'Yaygo' would be dragged around by it, only as a game I know but my other dog's would see all the fluff and think Whay Hay new tug toy : ) as for a collar to take 'Yaygo' for his walks on I can not see one small enough for him, he is wearing a cat collar at the moment which is only 12" full length and he has this on the 2nd hole, his neck size is only 10" with the cat collar fastned comfortably, a collar to go over his head would have to be 12", hope this all makes sense and sorry for being such an awkward so and so !!!. Now to a coat for 'Yaygo' this should be easier, I have measured him from neck to tail and he is 18" in length, so I assume I need a coat 18" in length regardless of a fleece lining or not?, 'duh' I really am so thick at times. Can someone help me out with a collar PLEASE and pretty please I really am stuck on this one and I do so want to purchase a couple of collars from you. I will more than likely be able to find a coat for him but if I am wrong on the fitting please could someone let me know that too. Sorry again for being such a dumbo. Unicorn and the Doglet's. x

Firstly, can you give me an idea of what colour you are looning for, please? Probaby a 3/4" one will be best for his neck size, and we have quite a few here that will be going into the mini-auctons. Not sure if I took pics of those today, as I finally managed a session with a camera, and just need to download and crop them etc. Coat-wise, there should be something suitable on the forum, but if not, give me a shout.

Oh thanks ever so much for getting back to me , I would be quite happy with dark blue, black or a nice dark purple, I would love one of the collars with the nice embroidery on it if possible. A very nice lady who has a whippet and a lurcher gave me her whippets' puppy jumper yesterday, she got it from Hotterdog and it fits him fine, so at least I know what size coat to go for now. Once again thanks ever so much for your kindness, Unicorn and the Doglet's. x

There will be some smaller, decorative collars in the auction very soon, as well as coats etc. Things a bit hectic today, as a volunteer down at the new building doing a bit to prepare that to move into, so have to rush up post now, then down to B & Q for guttering spouts... I know there was something else, too... now what was it?

Many welcomes, Pat. There's a lot to see, and a fair bit you might enjoy. Do take a look in the 'Stories' forum when you get a chance to put your feet up with a coffee.
