Not really 'Dickerfield News', but I thought it might be interesting for other people whose dogs are 'getting on a bit' (Dicker is nearly 12 now): Ramp: (great, because it's lightweight and really easy to walk for the dogs, totally non-slip) and steps for the sofa (my sofa is very high): and the brook on Sunday:

I've seen the ramps before, but the steps for the sofa - new one, but a great idea.

Thanks, Al (can't find a blushing smilie...) The steps are camping accessories, really handy and also lightweight (don't know whether they're pricey or not - OH got them for me as a surprise after I was on about not wanting the dogs to jump so high anymore but, of course, not wanting to stop them getting comfy on the sofa).

The steps are a great idea. A good friend of mine has an elderly arthritic cat and she has bought the cat some foot stools so that she can get on her favourite chairs, beds and other sleeping places. Sooner or later I guess I'll have to do the same for Tinker as she'll be at least 20 this year.

Now we're living around the corner from the Dickerfield, we can go there several times a day - and right now it's fantastic as the courgettes and beans and currants are ready to be devoured - yummy! We also had lovely visitors recently - Harvey (whose friend Roy died in May) and his new partner Dudley, an ex-racing Greyhound from Bath Cats and Dogs Home. Those two are so gorgeous, I just have to bore you with photos! Dudley

That Robby Robin looks a real character, Jutta. ;D
I'm hoping that the building work at Llys Trerobert won't disturb any of the birds there, and that we can incorporate some nesting ledges, nooks and crannies for the resident birds when the building goes up. Robins have been nesting for years in the adjacent yard's old hayshed, and a blackbird, too. Wagtails and wrens cannot be far away, although I've not yet identified their nest sites, I see both almost on a daily basis. Jackdaws, too, and they are busy gathering the moulted hair up almost as soon as I stop brushing it out of Merlyn the ponies.

Rob Robster is unbelievable! He actually comes flying along as soon as we're on the field. He even comes to show us the flies or maggots or whatever that he's caught! I don't know where the wrens and all the others nest either, but there are loads & loads of birds now, including jackdaws (but no such tame one anymore as we had a few years back when I too the 'raven' piccies). I could do with a 'twitcher' to tell me what all these birds on our field are - even with my RSPB bird book I can't identify them all!
