I was in a garden centre the other day, and they were selling a metre square raised beds made of wood quite cheaply. I thought at the time they would make handy lawn runs for a guineapig. A box for shade, and a top covered with mesh would not be too difficult to add, and they'd be easy to move around or take apart to store during the winter. It might be worth keeping an eye open for these in your area. They just slot together.

If there is anyone around handy with a saw, and you can get hold of a few old scaffolding planks (sold around here for about £2 each when not safe for use as scaffolding) you could get a substantial one made easily. Just have the planks cut to a bit more than the size needed, and have slots cut halfway through each end, and to the width of the planks. You can then just slot the pieces together into a box shape, just like the ones in the garden centres sold for raised beds. Two scaffolding planks should make a run of a good size for a guinea pig or two, and if in a safe environment away from cats or dogs, be deep enough to prevent them jumping out. I like the slotted together type, as they come apart easily for storage when not in use, and a box for shelter could be just one from a greengrocer.
