Yes it's true I am completely nuts. Yes I'm a push over. And Yes I need help..... but it's offical a 6 month old Lurcher has become the 6th doggie member of my family!!! Long story short, he was bred by the owner of the stables where I keep the horse. She couldn't sell him or give him away and eventually asked me to find a rescue place! One was found and he was due to go there next weekend, I decided as the conditions he was being kept were not at all nice I would bring him home to 'foster'. As they say the rest is history!!! He adapted so well to my house, he's respectful of the oldies and because he's been kennelled since being born he is fine being left while I work. Amazingly he's housetrained, he hasn't had one accident at all and just seems to know outside is where you go for toilet!!!! He's very playful and full of beans but loves his walkies then sleeps for hours!! He's all round a fab little skinny dog!! Lots of weight needs to be put on and he's full of flea scabs and his coat isn't good but that won't take long to sort out! Anyway may I introduce. Norris. I named him that because he has the face of a little old man...and he does remind me of Norris from Corrie for some odd reason!! Sorry photo's are not brill, but try getting a good piccy of a skinny, small, black lurcher who won't sit still!!

Well how could you resist that face Congratulations, he sounds a wee star and I'm sure you'll soon get him right. Maybe try adding a bit of sunflower oil to his food to get his weight on?

Dare I ask if that is horse poop in his chops, Jacky? (Old Scampi is a beggar for jumping the fence into the next door stable yard to get at their muck heap!)

Could well be Al he's a begger for picking things up!! First morning I went downstairs and he had one of my riding boots, 3 toys, a plastic grate cover from the drain and a cushion in his bed!! He doesn't chew just takes them as his own!! So definately no room at the Inn now...you have to keep your Angel yourself!!! Thanks Nicki, I've given him some sardines in sunflower oil yesterday cos it's quiet a struggle to get him to eat (I'm used to Staffy types who have NO problem with food!!) but I'll try him on some oil too to improve his coat.

Jacky, when I got Scampi, he was underweight. Tried all sorts of things, and nearly seven years later he is still underweight! In my experience with lurchers, they really adore things that are not really good for them, and they like them even more if they think they have stolen them! Scampi adores chips dropped on the pavement outside the house or on the bus stop opposite. Cold pieces and pasties, and if there are any sausage rolls on offer at 10p for six in the Co-Op, I have known him pinch as many as three packs - i.e. 18 sausage rolls in one go! He has access to a 25kg sack of dog food 24/7, too, plus any scraps he can pinch of kids, plates, the bin, chicken's nest boxes etc. He probably sleeps at least 20 hours a day, too, isn't particularly active on walks due to his age, and yet still doesn't get the weight on! (Wish I was in that boat! )

You're mad - but Norris looks lovely! Don't forget that Lurchers are meant to be slimmer/skinnier than other dogs, especially of the Staffy type
