URGENT HOME NEEDED FOR KIRSTY Hi, I am an elderly smooth-coated lurcher bitch. My mind is good but my body is old. I need a nice warm home with a sofa to lie on and my belly needs feeding with tinned meat 4 times a day. I need a quiet calm and a little garden to potter and stretch my weary legs in. I won’t ask for much as I sleep a lot, but just look into my eyes and I will repay you with the look of love. I don’t have long left in this world and I will soon be crossing over to Rainbow Bridge, but if someone out there could allow me my time peacefully with lots of TLC I would be forever grateful. I am in the care of Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue, who will pay any veterinary costs I may have. If you could offer me a quiet home with someone around to give me extra meals and let me out regularly then please contact Pip on 01386 853971 Thank you

Selina, if you call them, would you please let me know what they say with regards to your questions? Somebody asked me about her and has exactly the same questions... And by any chance why she's supposed to have tinned food?
Cheers, Jutta (not logged in)

Have just ring Pip on that number, a lovely lady, this dear dog really doesn't have much time left and Pip works full time so feels that she cant give her the time she fully needs whilst in rescue, she wants someone who is at home and can give Kirsty the love and time she deserves. She is fantastic with cats and other dogs, currently lives with 14/15 others and she is on wet foof because her teeth can't cope with dry food, also because of her age and condition she is on four meals a day as this is what she copes with better than 2 large meals.
Pip also said if anyone has any queries please, please phone her it doesnt matter how silly they seem, she really wants to find someone who has the time to give this dog before she goes onto her next life.

EGLR would like to thank everybody who called regarding Kirsty. She has now found a foster placement with one of our sponsor dogs, Ethel. This is Ethel. You can read about Ethel on the sponsor dogs pages of EGLR's website www.lurcher.org.uk They will be a couple of old ladies together! Pip was overwhelmed by how kind people could be to offer their homes to such an old dog with little time left and would like to personally thank everybody who contacted her. Of all the people who phoned, she especially remembered your kindness Selina so a special thank you goes to you If you are still considering taking on an older dog, have a look at Gyp on EGLR's website, she is 11 or 12 years old and also looking for a new home. Thank you all once again, you are wonderful! Di

She won't be moving from there Nikki, next stop the Bridge I'm afraid! Having said that, Ethel was in a similar condition and she's still going a year later!

Gyp looks rather like Scampi, the oldie that I took on for his retirement years, bless her. If she is anything like Scampi, she would be a wonderful companion and sofa-warmer. Lurchers are generally very easy dogs to have around the home. Scampi needs little by way of exercise and spends most of his time in between walks upside-down on the sofa and with his head on a cushion! In some respects can't believe he's been with me nearly two years already. In others, it feels as if he's always been here. The only difference I have noticed with Scampi and the other lurchers I have had in the past, is that he isn't as big a thief as them, although if my dinner happens to be at his nose level... I can really recommend inviting an oldie lurcher into one's life.

Thats really touched me thanks HenrysMum and of Course Pip. I am only to happy to help post some details of Kirsty and help spread the word, I would do the same for any dog looking for a place to stay especially one as elderly as Kirsty. I'm really pleased she has found her last home, off for a little sniff now.
