Twiglet
Twiglet was born 27th December 2004 and was the runt of the litter and VERY tiny. As she got older she was being picked on by her litter mates so her breeder took her away from them and asked us to take her on and find her a home. When she arrived here at 9 weeks old she was fit and lively but small and skinny. We struggled for months with her digestion trying to find a commercial food that suited her. She also suffered from recurring bouts of chest and bladder problems. The vets ran loads of tests and prescribed several courses of steroids and antibiotics and finally we got everything except the diet sorted out. We tried loads of different types of food, including prescription diets from the vets but nothing seemed to work, until we tried her on Naturediet. At first it was only the Fish and Rice variety that she could tolerate but now she is fine on any sort. She is still fed three times a day to keep her weight up and avoid stress to her stomach and this will need to continue.
Twiglet has grown up into a very fit, active and affectionate dog. She loves people and cuddles and also really enjoys a good gallop round our paddock. She has now been spayed and microchipped in readiness for finding her new home. The only thing we are still finding difficult with Twiglet is her house training. She has a very small bladder capacity and needs to be able to toilet frequently throughout the day, usually every few hours. She will ask to go out but when she does ask it means she needs to go NOW.
Twiglet needs a home where there is someone around pretty much all the time so her house training issues can be dealt with. She also needs someone who understands her dietary requirements and can keep up with a 3 times a day feeding regime. She has remained small and is now somewhere between whippet and greyhound size and is unlikely to get much bigger.
