I will pay for "shih tzu" cross stitch pattern!! I certainly have a very spoilt one living here (snoring away at the mo!) The collies on the other hand are not spoilt at all Your wish is my command, Alison. My task for this weekend is to do justice to "Shih Tzu" and "Staffie" Al tells me that you "Labrador" piece looks fab, so well done you You'll have to give me some suggestions at to what style to frame it in. By the end of this weekend, I should have five patterns done, although I have yet to put the chart pack together in a professional way. They are: Labrador Lurcher Greyhound Shih Tzu Staffie Any other dog breeds people think would be popular?

How about doing one for 'Hound', Jane, as that would cover several different breeds and more than a few crossbreds?

"mutt" should cover a few mutleys or Heinz 57 or ....whatever!! (have we got to be politically correct here? I should say "crossbreed" should I??? ) I am not sure if sheedy will be very popular ... but it might be if we mention it to a few shih tzu clubs perhaps....

Both hound and mutt are very good ideas. I had "mongrel" on my list to do, but do you think that "Mutt" is preferable? Don't want to upset the doggy PC Police I spent a merry three hours getting "Greyhound" and "Lurcher" packaged up yesterday and they look sparkly shiny super now ;D "Shih Tzu" is also in a simialr position now. For all three all I have to do is match up the symbols to the colours on the back of the front covers, but that'll take me ten minutes today. Then, HELLO!, volunteer stitchers?! I do understand that Christmas is coming and you have less spare time, but there's no deadline for these (although by the New Year would be good!) and they're not taxing or time-consuming. Just ask Alison So far: Alison has done "Labrador" "Greyhound" needs to go to Laylasmum "Lurcher" needs to go to Helen "Shih Tzu" needs to go to next in the volunteer list, which is lexis "Staffie" is pottering along today and I should be able to get him ready in the next week or so. Then I may do "Spaniel" for KayM to stitch up Jane x

And then there's... Collie? I have a tiny sheep's head charted somewhere that could perhaps be incorporated into a collie design, Jane? WIll try to find that and pop it into your parcel. Al

owwwww Whippets please. Ive done alot of tapestry, is cross stitch harder to do ? Hi Pauline Thanks for volunteering. I will put your name on the Whippet design - metphorically speaking of course. I've never done any tapestry so I can't say if cross stitch is easier. Al, you've done both, haven't you? Can you comment? Jane x

For someone with good eyesight, I don't think there's much difference in the skill level between cross-stitch and tapestry. The hardest part of the former, to me, is that it is a case of counting and following a chart, and my eyesight isn't good. Same applies the threading the finer needles used. (But then I find myself struggle to thread the sewing machine too, nowadays! Al

Hi, I joined this group ages ago and have never got round to introducing myself (shame on me I shall have to put that right on the appropriate thread).
Anyway don't know if I am to late to offer my services but if not I love to cross stitch and would be happy to help.

I may be wrong, (I have never done tapestry) but I think in tapestry the most pieces of thread that usually get put through one hole is 2 (ie where stitches join) whereas in x stitch it is quite common to have to put the needle through the hole 4 times, if 4 crosses are alongside each other in a block. This is not a problem, but again the good eyesight thing is a point. The labrador pic will be in the post today Jane. I am very pleased with it. Sorry for the delay. Hope you like it. Alison

DECEMBER UPDATE
As you can imagine, over the last fortnight things have slowed up a lot. However, here's the general picture.
Alison received the first pattern, which was 'Labrador' and it's already winging its way back to me to be framed and photographed for the front of the chart pack.
'Lucher' went off to Helen a week or two ago - have you received it OK, Helen? What do you think to it?
'Greyhound' is ready, willing and waiting for Sue to stitch up! Sue, can you PM me your address please?
The other volunteers that I have are: Crazyspaniels (Staffie) Nicole (Spaniel) KayM (Collie) Pauline (Whippet) Karen (Hound) Becks (Shih Tsu) Sammie (Doberman)
If I've left anyone out because I'm being dense, do please shout out.
I am half-way through 'Staffie', then 'Spaniel', 'Hound', 'Collie' and 'Whippet' in that order. Can those five above call out their preferences from this list - first come, first served ;D
Lastly, I want to say thank you to all the volunteers, who have been very wonderful this year. You're really helping to get the Cross Stitch Project firmly established.
Have a stitchy Christmas all of you!
Jane x

Oh, well I would have loved the spaniel if its a Springer, serves me right for not checking back quicky enough. What type of spaniel is it just to be nosey. I don't mind what I do, not too complicated though
