But, do we really know??? We never will Dave, one of life's little mysteries! I must confess to giving the matter some serious consideration each and every day. Did that clerk really make a mistake, especially since that name, Whateley, had already appeared once on the same page in another context. It is a matter of some considerable concern to me. I just wish I could leave such a puzzling anomaly behind when I go, to confuse people for hundreds of years. So where's your question Dave? I suppose I now have to wait till the USA catches up with proper time!

"So where's your question Dave? I suppose I now have to wait till the USA catches up with proper time! " As I was second to respond and then only with the less significant part of the answer I'll defer to Ali. Side out to Ali

Oh not much trivia left maybe I should start reading the plays How many plays and sonnets did Shakespeare write? I would send you my Complete Works of Shakespeare Ali, but it's so big that the cost of postage would probably be more than the book is worth! I used to dread carrying it to and from school. That's a bit of a sneaky question Ali, but it's believed to be at least 37 plays. This includes 'Pericles' and 'The Two Noble Kinsmen', which are are generally believed to be by Shakespeare. Another play, 'Cardenio', is often credited to him, together with some scenes from 'Sir Thomas More'. There were 154 sonnets, together with additional poems.

@ Dave I think that is the perfect answer. But this is the one I had written down. Shakespeare wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets. One play called "Cardenio" has no written record today. Only 36 plays can be read today. Ali

Here's a question Dave which I hope you will find fairly easy. I doubt if it will appear in Ali's information site, but you never know. Dear Willie S first performed his play Macbeth in 1606. This was intended as a demonstration of his loyalty towards the Crown. This was in response to a major conspiracy to kill the then King. What was that conspiracy? [You said you liked fishing Dave!]
