OK in Taming of the Shrew, how much does the Lord think the dog Silver is worth?
{thought we ought to have a "dog" related question!! ;D}

Sorry Ali, I've been so busy behind the scenes just lately, that it seems like ages since I was last in here! I expect things are slow also because of the BH weekend!
Tradition has it that William Shakespeare was born on 23rd April, three days prior to his baptism recorded at Holy Trinity Church in 1564. The 23rd April is also the date of his death in Stratford aged 52.
Now I'll have to go and look for a question, ready for Dave!

In April every year, there is a vast celebration of Shakespeare's Birthday in Stratford. In what year was this first celebrated?

Terry, would that be in 1623 when his bust was erected( also the year of Anne's death)?

WHOOPS!!!! Sorry Dave, with the recent upgrade, all old e-mail notifications of updated posts were lost, and replaced by BOOKMARKS, which were empty. I have tried to locate the posts I was following, but missed this one. Humble apologies.
You are about 200 years out at the moment Dave, and I have just checked to ensure there are web sites available with this information. The key to the difference in our dates may be "in Stratford"!!!
