Win a "Going to the Dogs" collar for the rescue of your choice by being the first person to answer this question correctly.
Tulliallan Castle is the home of the Scottish Police College (and it is where I work, maybe that is a bit strong. It is where I spend a lot of my time ). When was it purchased to become the Scottish Police College, for how much, and by what Government department?,
Please ensure that you put your Board Name, team, and nominated rescue in your post.
Good Luck

Prior to the Second World War there was no central training for police officers in Scotland, but immediately thereafter it was decided that probationer constables from all forces should be trained centrally and that some form of higher training for more senior officers should also be provided. The result was Tulliallan from the Gaelic Tulach-Aluin (beautiful knoll) was purchased in 1950 by the then Scottish Home Department for £9,100

Yes the Castle is lovely and so are the grounds. Unfortunately I dont actually work in the Castle. My building is a sub standard one which we have been trying to get replaced for the last few years. It has damp, bats, and other problems.
You have won by the way.
