Just wondered what tips people have for taking good photos of their pets? My favourite tip is to go down to the dogs eye level, even be below their level so that they are looking down at the camera??
Anyone else got any tips??

Hold a biscuit with one hand and the camera with the other, it has been known for me to hold a sausage in my mouth and steady the camera with both hands, no photo evidence I'm afraid.

LOL at the sausage Selina - sorry I'm a veggie and couldn't cope with that!!! Some basic obedience really helps if you want the dog "posed" - the first rule of dog photography is to catch your dog!! Try to take photos outside in natural daylight if at all possible, light can make a huge difference to a photo, as below: This one looks really "flat" in comparison Try maybe having something to stand a smaller dog upon - it's easier then to be at their eye level, as Catherine suggested Or even a garden bench can work well but think about the background - this is a good example of what not to include!! Mid blue backgrounds are especially good for Black/dark coloured dogs, as a pale background will "confuse" the camera. Also it helps if your subjects are feeling co-operative, so try to avoid immediately after a walk, at meal times etc. If you're aiming for more natural shots, try giving them a new toy, and be prepared to follow them around and take lots of shots. Just make sure it doesn't obscure the dog: The big advantage of digital photography is that you can take LOADS of photos and just keep the best ones. Cats are probably harder, best to wait until they settle down somewhere - knowledge of their favourite spots is helpful, but think about backgrounds etc. Ok enough from me...go and have a look at the entries in the calendar competition, this will help!! petcraftproject.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=Comps

Those photographs are fantastic I usually try and make high pitched squeeky noises to get Loki to cock his head.
