I know someone asked about Doggy Dressing gowns, but who was it, and what were the sizes needed, please?
I can't seem to find the post anywhere, sorry, but have found some towelling and fleece to make some up with, and have a clear cutting table... although not sure how long it will remain clear, though. ;D

Al, it wasn't me who asked about these but I'd love a couple of towel type robes if any available. I take my gang to the beach every couple of days and would be great to have something to throw on my two oldies to dry them off. Edited to add: if any towelling robes to be added to the sale in the next while I don't mind waiting.

What size do you want, please, Cathy? There are some in the pipeline, so worth watching the sale thread for when Ali updates it.

Hi Al, They are for 2 fairly large collies. I'm trying to track down my tape measure at the mo to get measurements - it keeps going walkabout on me. I'll keep a look-out on the sale thread in the meantime.

Okay.....I'm very very reluctant to complain, cos I can't tell you how much I value what you do here and the effort you all go to, but thought I'd pass on contructive critisiam (blimey I can't spell!!) Anyway my friend just bought one of the coats, and while it fitted her dog length ways she said the belt was abit tight, he is slightly overweight dog, but I thought I'd mention it! My coat fits Sidney like a glove, but he is very skinny and I'm not sure if I bought a smaller version for the others it would get round their bellies!
Sorry hate to mention it, but thought you'd appreciate the comments?

Thanks, Jacky. If your friend (or anyone else) finds an item is the wrong size, we will always exchange it and can do 'made-to-measure'. Dogs tend to vary so much in proportions, and most items are 'medium fit' unless otherwise stated. Dogs a bit on the plump side, and some breeds such as Staffies etc., tend to need deep fit coats. If ever in doubt, please measure the dog an item is for, and we can check that against the item before posting something out. Whatever, rest assured, we will always do our very best to ensure members and supporters are happy with their items. Thinking about it, perhaps it would be better to use a different form of fastening on these coats, and that allows for more adjustment, instead of the velcro. What do you think, Jacky? Something more like a horse's surcingle, perhaps?

I've got one from Mindy who posts on the Refuge, via Lab rescue, which has a very long tie that goes under the stomach and ties on the back. I'll be honest (oh it's getting dangerous all this honestly!!) yours are made much better and look brilliant on, but Mindy's ties better, so maybe a combination of the designs??? This is the best photos of it I've got (Sidney will not forgive me!!)

I'm all for honesty, Jacky, and we can all learn from constructive suggestions. I can certainly do ties, no problem. In fact, tie-belts would be a lot easier. What about at the fronts, though? A tie there or would it be better to stick with the tri-glide buckles and webbing straps? I could even do the same sort of webbing and slide release belts that we do on the normal coats/raincoats, and allow a bit of extra adjustment there. I've been experimenting a bit with some closed fronted designs for the sighthounds, and was thinking of sending some of those to Angela at Tailends. I am sure she'd let me know which design she finds best for those if I asked her.

The fronts on the one you sent me with the tri-glide buckles are brill!! Definately better than ties! Yeah that's the difference as well, apart from Sidney all mine are short, fat and round dogs so the requirement is different to the tall and skinny's!!! So definately get Angela's opinion too.
That aside, walked with my friend last night and she's afew 2 for her dogs now please! she's going to measure up and I'll let you know.

I asked about doggy dressing gowns a while ago and was told they were in 'Flash and Grab' and couldnt find my way round 'doh'!!! Anywaaaay - what I really need are some 'custom-made' ones - is this possible?? Speaking as someone who was banned from the needle work room at school cos I kept messing everything up - I'm not sure if I'm asking for too much?? If it is possible to get custom made ones would I be able to make a dressing gown out of paper then send it to someone clever so they could make it up with toweling and fleece or am I talking complete rubbish now

Er... possibly! ;D If you are thinking of something very complicated, I'm not going to commit myself, but if you mean along the lines of those we make already, then yes, it is possible, and you can just send the measurements if you wish.

OK let me explain - I have a cocker spaniel who loves to get wet. ANY water anywhere and he's in it but he also gets incredibly cold as soon as he stops running around. Somebody has already stated one of the problems I have with the standard dressing gowns - the bit round his tummy is too tight so I need a longer fastening. Also the neck fastening - I dont need one! I've superglued his current one together (I dont do sewing!!) The final thing I need is kind of a bit longer 'skirt' on it so it hangs down a bit further - more like a horses winter coat - does that make sense?? Basically I want as much of him covered as possible because when he gets in the car after his walk he is really cold within minutes and I need a big fluffy, warm dressing gown to smother him til I can get him home to the fire to steam dry Will go and measure him brb OK measurements are as follows collar to base of tail - 63cm - so say 65 neck diameter - 35cm - that is the equivalent of a well fitting collar so say 40 so Ican slip it over his head chest/tummy girth - 65cm (thats actually my other span but she is a bit of a porker - but she may end up with one too!) I actually need 4 in total - 2 dogs, 2 walks a day!! But is it more sensible to make one and see if the plan works then get the others or do the lot in one go??

Next you'll be insinuating I was around at the time of the ark? ;D I should think horse poo coloured can be arranged, or something resembling that! I have some milk chocolate fleece and THINK there should be some dark brown towelling somewhere here. That size will work out at £15.00p each, Sarah. Thanks, Amy... pity I didn't see that before I went up the road and bought a tape... yet another one... in cms!
