I have advised the home that they should approach the PAT dog association but if anyone wants to visit, knows anyone in their area who would take a pet in, or knows someone to do with the PAT dog's, please pass this on. Cross post where you feel it will help to do so. Thanks. Samantha
Dear Sam
Thank you for your kind reply. We are a residential home for elderly people and we look after approximately 40 people. Some 15 residents have dementia, 3 people are younger adults with physical disabilities, the others are all elderly frail. The home is purpose built on 3 levels.
We are trying to improve the stimulation for the residents by various forms of activities and wish to introduce the visits of animals to the home - realising that many of them did have pets in their own homes. The touch and feel of pets I am sure will be therapeutic in itself.
My name is Debbie Nathan and the Activities Co-ordinator is Gail. The 2 deputy managers are Janice and Carol. You are quite welcome to talk any one of us. Home details are as follows:
Cwmaman Care Centre, Morris Street, Cwmaman, Aberdare, CF44 6HW.
