Hi to all,im having a crisis!firstly my mom was taken ill last week and is no better this week so ive been very worried and rushing about fetching shopping and checking in on her, then my vet the man i always see has retired and when i went up their the others have refused to give me brandys eardrops which she has to have for all her life to keep the yeast infection under control >:(instead they want to put her under and syringe them which she has already had done and it didnt work >:(she is showing her age now so dont want to put her through it,and then poor Zeus when he last went to ves i mentioned a small white bald spot in his fold of skin but the vet said it was nothing,he started itching his armpits and neck and they have gone very sore this is only last week ,now the white small bald spots have spread to the top of his head and his fur looks a little patchy i know dogs can suffer allergies but i havnt changed anything,i have bathed him in mild shampoo and put sudo cream on sore spots ,has anybody any ideas on what i should do??Im definately considering changeing my vets but how sad i feel when ive been with them all my life :'(Oh and can anyone advise me on insurance policies ive been looking through them but their are so many ,dont know which would be best ;D

Sam at www.caninecaregroup.net is very good with dogs with allergies, she is very highly qualified for homeopathy for animals. If you want her email address or telephone number, pm me. I used Sam for my dogs. I do hope your mum is better soon.

Hi re insurance, I use Marks and Spencer for my 2 lurchers and find it good value for the cover offered. I have lifetime cover and I opted for no excess which wasn't much extra. It depends on age, sex and breed of course but I described mine as crossbreeds. Also although M & S have recently increased their premiums I found it is still better than other insurers and I originally got several quotes. I did on line quotes for an idea of their cover and premiums before telephoning and discussing options. Hope Brandy and Zeus are soon better. Do you need a prescription for the ear drops, if not you could get from online supplier. Mugsy's reccomendation sounds good too. I am bookmarking it in case needed in future. Good luck xx

Hope your mum gets better soon!!!
Re the bald spots - I'd consider having a skin scrape done as it could well be ringworm (roundworm?? type of skin fungus, quite common with cattle, so dogs can get it if walked on fields where cattle is or was)
