Just thought I would post this to let you all know that we also deal with other things in our little Home Run Rescue! Cottage had its 1st Cruelty Case in Court today and it was successful. The man got fined €500.00 + €100.00 expenses to be paid within 4 months and if not paid in that time he will give 5 days in jail. He was warned not to be up again in court for cruelty as he will go to jail next time and be disqualified from ever having an animal again for the rest of his life. Cottage Rescue got great praise from the Judge who highly commended us for our work, we are so proud as did the Superintendent! Here are pics of the animal! This is echo when he came into Rescue! Close up! And Closer still! Half way through treatment! Just healed! And here he is before going to his Long Term Foster Home! Myself and Kelly worked so hard on this lovely New Forest Pony, every day his bad wounds had to be hosed out and scrubbed hard to make it bleed and different sprays and ointment used on it, he was so nervous in the beginning and got so good in the end he just learned to accept his treatment. He is now with a lovely family down the Country and is loved by a 14 year old girl who loves to ride him.

Well done, to all involved in this pony's care and recovery. It is amazing how well some wounds on horses can heal. My TB stallion was a gift as a yearling who had been tangled in wire by a hind leg. He had some horrific looking wounds that took a long time to come right, but now one has to look hard to see the scars and he's now working quietly under saddle and will soon also be running out with the mares. (And he knows it! ) He already has a very smart dark bay/brown colt (sure to be a dressage prospect, the way it moves) and a nice bay filly foal born this year out of an old PTP mare. When the stallion had his accident, even the vet doubted he'd ever come sound, let alone that the scars would become barely visible. I have a mare bought in back last December after falling on the road and damaging both knees. She was a mess, but is coming slowly, although I doubt she will ever look quite right again, although moves sound enough now.

Poor Echo, those wounds look awful, well done for nursing him through it. I am glad he is OK now, he looks like a lovely pony.

oh goodness poor Echo - what an amazing transformation.
Congratulations on nursing him back to health, and the fantastic court result...personally i feel the owner should have been left to rot somewhere...preferably with nasty injuries...but at least they are hitting him financially...

What a fantastic outcome -to have got him into court to start with & winning the case. Echo is a credit to you, that injury was nasty. Wish like others they'd put all the people that treat animals like this in a dirty great pit & shoot em. Well Done toyou.
