... Wait for it... The carcass of a dead cow part-way down a ravine! (And they appear to be defending it from all-comers & rescuers and have no desire to vacate!) Couldn't help but recall that tale of the 'Dogs in Elk' from a few years ago. (See: Anne V's Dogs In Elk )

Update... Freezing cold and wet up on the mountain. Terriers still inside rotten cow. Rescuers sent down for more supplies of hot drinks; food; torch batteries; and clothes pegs!

Just to update - both terriers were finally recovered fit and well fed, but absolutely filthy and very smelly at about 7.30am this morning. ;D The elderly owners are barely speaking to each other, however! When I have further details, and if anyone's interested, I'll update.

Glad to hear they have both been recovered but I bet they stink Poor cow though, shame it was left there and not buried or disposed of properly in the first place.

As I understand it, Ann, the place is extremely difficult to access and impossible with a vehicle. No one is sure even where the cow came from or how/where it got into the ravine. In fact, there is some doubt now whether it is a cow. It could be the body of a black pony.
