hello! I'm getting my first grey in a few weeks and need to get him a harness to use on arrival before getting him a proper greyhound collar fitted. As i'm getting him direct from the trainer, all i know is his racing weight (29.5kg) and from memory that he is a medium size ... can you advise if this is adequate to get a harness or will i need to pester the trainer for more info?(they are not very helpful unfortuantely!) Any other advice to ensure i'm fully prepared would be greatly appreciated!

Ideally, for a harness you would need the chest measurement taken around the greyhound's body and behind the front legs. There is more adjustment possible with a trail harness than with a padded chest one, but an average/medium greyhound is usually around the 28" - 30" chest. Large male ones nearer 32" up to about 36" or even 38" if very big dogs. Bitches tend to be a bit smaller. There should be more decorative trail harnesses entered in the auction soon, and entries will be added after the sale opens early tomorrow, too. Hope this helps?
