Great news, Alicia. If you are in over Christmas, they usually make a special fuss of you, sent Santa around the wards, and not to mention the carol singers and sherry for those allowed it! ;D Hope all goes well for you.

Sorry to hear you're in for more surgery, Jazz. Let's hope they pull their fingers out and get you sorted, mobile, and pain-free ASAP. Instead of just writing with an appointment time/date, our local NHS Trust now has a new idea - one's doc writes a referal letter; Hospital Trust then writes to patients inviting them to telephone them, including on a Saturday morning as a trial - because, they explain, all week they are very busy and many patients cannot get through, so are advised to keep trying. When patients still fail to get through, the Trust writes again to remind them to phone, and give them a further 7 days to do so, or else be removed from the waiting list! Amazing! I wonder which idiot person came up with this bright idea? I'd love to bill them for the time I spent trying to get through to them, and perhaps ask if the instigator of this practice really enjoys threatening and causing stress to possibly vulnerable, sick people? When I finally did get through, they were only able to offer a choice of one date and two appointment times 20 minutes apart! (Both really too early for me to be up and mobile unless I don't bother going to bed or attempting to sleepall night!) Benefits? Cost savings? I think not! I got three letters and several frustrating days spent trying to get through, instead of just one appointment letter. There was no 'choice' as promised in the initial invitation to make the appointment, so why bother pretending. (Unless, of course, loads of patients give up trying to get an appointment or just get struck off and have to start the whole process again, thus reducing the waiting lists?)
