Ben is being rehomed privately
All enquiries about Ben can be made to myself and I will pass them on to his foster Mum
Please meet Ben
Here's what Ben's foster Mum has to say about him -
''Ben is a 6.5 year old black (and pink), greyhound. Ben is six and a half years old, neutered, vaxed, microchipped and clean in the house.
Ben retired from racing in early March 2008 and was rehomed to a family with children. Sadly he was given up after 18 months, through no fault of his own and was in a terrible state when returned.
This is what he looked like when he came into care
He has been living with us and our male springer spaniel at home, for six weeks while he recuperates and has become a totally different boy from the withdrawn little man that we first took in. He now has a very waggy tail, especially at lunch and walk time and has put on a well needed 3 kilos in those 6 weeks. He's still a little underweight, but he's getting there.
Each day that passes, Ben shines just a little bit more. He's gained weight, gained confidence and gained a cheeky and playfull personality ~ a furry, squeaky beachball is his favourite toy.
He's very quiet around the house and you can forget he's here sometimes, unless you pick up his food bowl or lead, then he gets quite excited. He's gentle on the lead and loves the occasional blast off lead in an enclosed area.
His trainer told me he has always been a baldy and so may not get as hairy as your average hound. A bonus if you don't like hoovering.
He's a very quiet dog around the house and you can sometimes forget he is here. He's gentle on the lead and has to date, got on with every dog he's met, GH or other, even the small ones.
Ben with some friends
Ben does seem to enjoy company, human and hound, so would make a lovely second (third, forth) dog. He has been left for upto 3.5 hours so far, with no problems what so ever. Ben's cat status is unknown and he will not be homed with cats due to this.
Ben now needs his FOREVER home as I think he's had to pack and unpack his bags way too many times. Ben would be most happy in a mature home with another dog for company. Ben does have stiffness in his right foreleg when walked on hard surfaces which we feel is most likely an old racing injury, but this doesn't cause him any problems and isn't apparent when he is on a soft surface.
So if you feel that you can offer Ben his forever home please do get in contact. This special boy really does deserve his forever home at last.
Ben is in the Hertfordshire area.
All prospective homes will be subject to a homecheck.
