... Although members can respond to threads posted here, ask questions etc., for the time being it will not be possible for them to create new threads.
This is only to give the opportunity to the representatives of existing TRPD project groups to reveal a little about their own specific groups, their purpose and to share their ideas with other members here and before we post details of how they may set up a TRPD group along similar lines in their own areas.
We have a huge amount of ideas and resources that can be shared here but that will take time to gather, update and post, so please bear with us.
Although there is nothing at all to stop anyone setting up a group along similar lines to those appearing in this forum, for it to be prefixed by 'TRPD' there do have to be certain requirements and a specific structure in place.
A TRPD group is never run by a committee and in the normal sense. There are NO bosses in a TRPD group (thank goodness ) and a group's leaders are simply trusted 'serving officers' appointed by and answerable to the membership of the group members as a whole.
That needs explaining, as I am sure you will agree! It sounds almost like a recipe for anarchy at first glance. In reality, and when the group's principles are applied firmly by the membership themselves and over and above any personalities (egos) that might be tempted to get in the way of those principles, then things generally tick along smoothly and without any but the most minor conflicts.
The piece currently being updated, and about one of the TRPD writers' groups, will reveal a little more about how this is possible. That article (the original first published in Writing Magazine in 2000 and written by our own member 'AuntAggie') will, I am sure, give members considerable insight into the scope, principles and inclusive nature of TRPD project groups.
Be warned, it may also prove very thought provoking and even a shade controversial, so open-mindedness will be the order of the day when reading it and after it, too, goes live.
Thanks.
Alison
