As we all know, our precious friends Are only here on loan. They are simply lent by God above, Yet we love them as our own. We never know how long or short Their time with us shall be; And naturally, within our hearts We hope its lasts, eternally.
But somewhere deeper in our hearts, We know there is a limit. Yet unquestioningly we give our heart, And all the love within it. We spread petals on the journey Of the friends who come our way. We question not potential loss, As we fill with joy their every day.
And one day comes the pain filled time When He says ‘’I miss my friend, But I thank you for the love you gave Right from the start, until the end. I thank you for the petals On his journey that you laid I thank you that my precious friend Was loved by you, was never afraid’’
So when you ‘lose’ the sweetest friend, And your heart breaks on this day, Remember the petals on his journey That you scattered on his way. He is home now, he is truly home, Because you made his journey true. And those petals on his journey, Were placed there, just by you.
