I know it's in Florida but Safe Harbor really deserves recognition for its continued excellence in support of animal welfare. I donate regularly thanks in part to some crazy antics over at the Spring Thing site. Please take a look. FlDave safeharbor.jupiterdaily.com/

The Oldies Club www.oldies.org.uk/The Oldies Club is a group of volunteers from all over the country who feel great empathy with the plight of elderly dogs that end up in rescue centres. We work with other organisations to help to get dogs out of kennels into permanent or foster homes. We are able to match dogs looking for homes with potential owners and to assist rescue centres with homechecking and transport to enable dogs to be placed in homes throughout the country. Please have a look at our website, and if you would be interested in being added to our e-mail list for regular news and updates, let me know. Fiona

Like to mention our site if you'd like to browse. We are a small permanent sanctuary with a non-destruct policy, self funded, neuter everything(don't stand still too long if you visit ). We cater for dogs and cats but also have a couple of cows(Trubshaw & Chance),5 sheep,3 goats,2 pigs(Sausage & Fritter) and ex-battery chickens. Our dogs and cats are ones with behavioural problems(usually caused by the previous owners!!),or golden oldies that are refused by many places. We also have "surgery specials" which are ones taken to our vets to be put down when the owner just wants to "get rid of it". Our site has a bit about us,our newsletters with our latest news and happenings, lovely 'photos of some of our family and we have a "please sponsor me" page as well. Better remember to put the link..... www.chaldonanimalsanctuary.co.uk/

I'd like to mention John's (biggsd's) new site www.germanshepardrescue.co.ukIt's a forum for GSD owners, but also showcases the GSDs that John and Lyn rescue. Many are from Ireland, but also from the UK pounds. GSDs are among the most common breeds in pounds, so if you think you could offer a good home for a rescue GSD, then do drop in and have a look at the site Beth x It's a forum for GSD owners, but also showcases the GSDs that John and Lyn rescue. Would like to mention Greyhounds-R-US " We are active in finding homes for retired racing greyhounds and to a lesser extent - but of no less importance - rescuing abandoned and mistreated greyhounds and looking after them in certified kennels or approved foster homes until we can find suitable permanent homes for them. We liaise with local trainers who are concerned to ensure that their dogs are well cared for when they finish racing or are not suited to racing. We also work with these Irish groups : Ash Animal Rescue, Co.Wicklow, Eire Animal Care Society, Co.Cork, Eire West Cork Animal Welfare, Co.Cork, Eire It is difficult to find suitable homes for rescued greyhounds in Ireland so we offer assistance to the above groups by bringing their greyhounds and lurchers to the UK via Ash Animal Rescue Transport. - and we get calls from a variety of other sources." Website address is www.greyhounds-r-us.co.uk

www.glwr.org.ukGreyhound and Lurcher Welfare and Rescue was set up in the South West following the closure of the Glastonbury Racetrack. Our aim was to ensure that none of the Glastonbury dogs would need to be put to sleep after the track closed, and we invited trainers to give their unwanted dogs to us for rehoming. We are a small rescue, made up of unpaid volunteers, but since April 2006 we have successfully rehomed 22 dogs. Since the launch of our website, we have begun to take in dogs from much further afield, and to rehome all over the country. GLWR is particularly looking for a Fundraising Co-ordinator to join the team.

Of course I have got to mention GRWE, without whom we would not have our two wonderful greyhounds living with us today. The support they offer post homing is second to none! There are always greyhounds and lurchers looking for their forever homes on the website and some long timers who deserve a special mention.

DogsInDistress rescue dogs from Ashton Pound in Dublin Ireland. When a dogs time is up in the Pound we have to swiftly organize transport from the pound to the rescue or the foster home. Most rescues who work closely with us aren't local so dogs get up and down the country by the goodwill of Volunteers. Most dogs we take out will have to spend 2/3weeks in either a foster home or a kennel until they can get to their new home. DogsInDistress
