Animal Concern Cumbria's aim is "to promote kindness and suppress cruelty to animals and to attend generally to the welfare of all animals in need of care and protection. They do not believe that any animal should be destroyed for want of a home" Dizzy[/size] He is 4 years old and is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross. Dizzy is completely blind. He is however a very loving dog who loves to play with water and he loves the seaside with sandy beaches. Dizzy needs a stable home where furniture would never be changed around, a secure garden/exercise area and a regular routine. Dizzy loves everyone he meets and quickly wins their hearts. He is truely a really special little boy, whose only fault in life was being born partially sighted. Dizzy also enjoys travelling and will happily fall asleep in the car. He doesn't suffer from car sickness. He has been neautered, vaccinated, wormed and frontlined. Dizzy is now receiving medication for his heart. It is felt at this stage that a foster home would be better for him as he will need constant monitoring at our own vets which have branches in Cockermouth, Workington and Whitehaven. Do you think you are the right family Dizzy has been waiting for? For further information or to make an appointment for an interview in Workington, West Cumbria, please contact Linda 01900 61669

What a lovely boy. I hope someone finds it in their heart to offer him a loving home. (I wonder where he has been for the last 4 years? Is his background known? )

I am getting more and more worried about Dizzy. He is getting distressed at the kennels and is losing weight. I do hope a new home comes along and SOON.

Good news, well almost... Dizzy will hopefully be going into a foster home next saturday providing that he gets along with the resident bitch (he's neutered, so no worries there). Keeping fingers and toes crossed for them as he really needs to be in a home where his poorly feet can have chance to feel and he can re-gain some of the weight he has lost..
I'm not going to lock his thread yet, as he will still be waiting for a permanent home.

After finding a possible foster home for Dizzy, his life has taken a turn for the worse. He has been to the vets for ulcerations to his feet and when he went for his checkup last monday we noted that he had gained 2KG in weight in just a week. So he's currently staying at the vets whilst they assess his condition and make sure that he is well enough to be moved.
Please send positive thoughts for this brave little man...
(I am locking his thread until further news is known). Please PM me if yould like further info regarding Dizzy.. Thanks

Dizzy's back with us at the kennels and the possible foster home fell through . He is now on medication for his heart which he will no doubt need for the rest of his life. He's in good spirits considering, but his feet are not going to heel whilst he is in a kennel. We are urgently trying to find a foster home for him ASAP. All veterinary costs, food etc will be met by the charity for Dizzy and we offer full support.
If you think you can offer him a place in your home, please contact Linda 01900 61669

Sorry, just to add that given current circumstances with Dizzy it is felt that a home without any dogs is preferable.

Well it looks like it was short lived. Sadly the 'man of the house' doesn't like dogs and had agreed to foster Dizzy just long enough for him to recover from his operation. The operation was a success and he is having his stitches removed tonight, so it looks like he's going back to kennels We have had an offer of a home for him in Carlisle, who is still waiting for a letter from her landlord, so we're yet again running out of time. Linda is therefore launching yet another newspaper appeal for him. We're hoping that the new photo taken with kids will reasure people that he is the dog we say he is and that he will make a lovely companion to someone who has no other pets. I saw him today, and what a little fatty he is He looks absolutely fantastic, and had such a smile on his face that I haven't seen for a long time. He wanted to play too :-[So he is back to his old self again... I just hope we can get him into a home as none of us ever want to see him back at the kennels....
