Sawda (means black one) is a lovely Feathered Saluki, he is about 1 year old and will be Neutered when he puts on more weight as he is on the thin side at the moment and he will also be fully vaxed.
He is a smashing dog but very wary of men as he has been ill treated, but I have no doubt that he will come on in time, he certainly is good looker and very playful and seems to have no problem with other dogs.
He is lead trained and keeps his kennel clean with no accidents and just loves his feeds and cuddle times.
It is very important that you have a secure garden for Sawda as Saluki's are natural hunters and will travel for miles and their re-call is not good so they have to be kept on leads when out walking.
He learned to trust me in a very short time, it will take a bit of time for him to learn to trust men again. He just loves attention and that is why he would love to live in the house with you but bear in mind that they are large dogs and they do like a long walk every day and they just love human company and he is a good traveller in the car.
Saluki's are a proud animal's with great depth of character and personality.
Several features set the Saluki apart from other dog breeds including their outline, movement and temperament and apart from being very gentle and sensitive,
They are often described as powerful endurance animal's and are a very intelligent, highly-bred, independent hunter who is built and moves like no other hound. The beauty of the Saluki can be compared to an Arabian horse with grace and symmetry, clean-cut and graceful.
They have long tail's which are carried naturally in a curve or circle, with arched toes and a long head with deep far-seeing eyes with an expression of dignity mixed with gentleness.
The Saluki's sight is famous. He can see clearly for at least a mile. Rather than watch a near-by object, a Saluki can often be seen gazing at a bird very high in the sky or at a passing plane.
Saluki's are very proud animal's with great depth of character and personality. They are truly a family hound and will not be happy if they cannot share family life, despite the Saluki's size they are adept at curling into a tightly wound ball.
He can be seen at Cottage Rescue in County Tipperary, Ireland.
