This sub-forum has come about because an increasing number of our members have started to make things to aid rescues, so it would be useful for other members to see who does what.
Also, those who make things can share ideas, tips, patterns etc., and generally discuss what they are doing, which rescues benefit, related newws and, perhaps, inspire others to also have a go. There will never be a shortage of rescues needing such support or work for the volunteers willing to undertake it.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to post them here, and if you make things to help a rescue, do tell all here.
Perhaps you might not actually make items, but create paintings or drawing, or pot up spare plants to sell etc. (Which reminds me, I really must get a larger pot for my giant Christmas cacti and also take a stack of cuttings from that! It won't be flowering this Christmas, as it's pot-bound and desperate for fresh compost...
Still on the subject of plants, there are some lovely ceramic bowls available in some of the cheap and pound shops or car boot sales, and a few nice cuttings planted up in those make smashing gifts for children to plant up themselves for relations, teachers and any neighbours they might wish to give something to. Similarly, they seem to sell well at Christmas Fayres and bazaars for charitable causes. Your local rescue shops might well appreciate some to help with their fund-raising efforts.
Anyone else got any simple, inexpensive ideas, please? Those that involve children are especially welcome, as doing things to help animal causes is a good way to foster their awareness, encourage them to do things to help others, and as well as occupy them. ;D
