Very special thanks to Ajs, who cut short a visit to her mum and dad earlier today to come to the rescue of a local woman who had to rehome two of her four beautiful young dogs before Monday (tomorrow) or choose which two to have put to sleep because of an ultimatum from her landlord. The poor woman was in a dreadful state and so upset. She had rescued and hand-reared all four of the pups from just a few days old and was devoted to them all. Hard as the decision was, she allowed Ajs to take Cally, a lovely, lively, golden girl who looks like a Labrador x hound, and Rorro, a gorgeous tri-coloured girl that looks like a collie x KCS, even if the two are sisters. My heart went out to her, and she was desperately upset, but I know she knew that she hadn't any choice and that she acted in the best interests of these really lovely, friendly, and energetic, seven month old pups. I feel sure that, with Alison's help and that of the foster carer to whom they have gone, both will soon find wonderful new forever homes. (They are super young dogs.) I am just grateful to have been in the right place, at the right time, to learn about this urgent and desperate situation, and to have friends on here whom I can contact for help when situations like this arise. Thanks also to Wendy (Goingothedogs) whom I also contacted at one point and when I couldn't get through to Alison at first on the phone.

I had a phone call this morning from Ajs to say that both pups have settled in really well at their foster home and think they are in seventh heaven. They've been racing around playing chase and other games with the other dogs there, and for a lovely walk in the woods, too.

PS the lady in the pic is not me nor is it the girls foster mum, but it is one of our neighbours who is also very involved in dog rescue and has been for years. Some of you may know Helen - she used to work at Teckels.

Great news - the girls have been chosen by a family near Leominster - 4 kids, big house and huge garden. They passed their home check with flying colous and should be picking up the girls from their foster home today!! Good luck Rorro and Callie and be good for your new family Al, please pass on the good news to their first mum.
