There's also a question re dogwood, as that has already been done as 'dogwood' by the cats....

and true, sadly, Bulrush only one L, so not possible Okelydokely, and not arguing with the judgement so please don't think that, but many horticultural and nature sites have it with two l's, and so I checked - this is from the Oxford dictionary online - "bulrush (also bullrush) • noun a reed mace or similar waterside plant. — ORIGIN probably from BULL1 in the sense large, coarse. Perform another search of the Compact Oxford English Dictionary"

I had horseradish a while back ;D Isn't dam just a term for a mother (horse etc), rather than a type of animal? Then again I had no clue about pansy either, so thanks for that

Pansy is not valid - no 'juggling' of letters, the name of the animal has to be spelt within the plant name.
Ann, have you been to Chelsea Flower show?? There are a couple that have been used already (e.g. gooseberry and horseradish) and a couple with the Latin names. I'll check through this afternoon and do the counting/updating.

Lyndajayne, your entry fee is great!! Have now checked all those millions of plants Ann came up with... Sorry – ElaeaGNUs x Ebbinge – common name is Ebbinge’s Silverberry Beard Tongue – already used Horseradish – already used Dragons Claw Willow – dragon still not an animal “by itself” Gooseberry Invicta – Gooseberry already used as ‘goose’ Lamb Lettuce – already used Primula Bullesiana – Latin name – common name is just “Primrose” according to various plant name indexes Taxus Baccata – Latin name - common name is “English Yew” And Lyndajayne, I'm sorry, but Grandmother's Bonnet cannot be accepted as it is called Granny’s bonnet, not Grandmother’s bonnet to my knowledge (and what I could find on google) These "deleted" still left 17 to make up a brilliant score for the wildcats! ( - that's the wolf-Jutta, not the adjuttacator ) Isn't there a wolf with good camera able to go to Kew Gardens??
