Norma, from Pedigree Rescue Ireland is not on the internet, but I received this lovely email via Chris.
"Hi Jo,
It may seem a bit strange but when you are running a rescue it is as though one inhabits a different world from other ordinary dog owners. You never know what dog is coming in & almost without exception they are confused & neglected.
You become fixated on the slightest cough & looking at all poo for worms & firmness. The vet's surgery can be a 2nd home & tatty dog clothes & endless washing of food bowls become the norm. Gradually you acquire as permanent residents....a motley crew of the old & infirm that you can't rehome & all with their peculiarities.
So its REALLY nice when anyone volunteers to do anything to help.
It lifts one's spirits!! Norma told me that she had never had so many "red letter" days."
So big thanks to everybody for your donations to the prize box and your efforts in winning them for your chosen rescue - they DO make a difference! ;D

What a lovely mail Jo, it brightens my day so much to hear how we are helping and by doing so little really. Come on you lot you heard what the letter says, lets get some more prizes into that virtual prize box and help some more dogs in rescues and of course the soldiers that are doing all the real work by dealing with the dogs directly, by sending toys and leads, colars, bowls we are making the real helpers lives a lot easier. A big WELL DONE to those people and of course yourselves

I Have just received the following in an email from Gables Farm:
Dear Members
Thank you very much for the leather collar that you kindly sent to us here at Gables Farm Dogs & Cats Home, it is proudly being worn by Buckley one of our long term dogs. We would be very interested in having some of our dogs and cats on your web site. I am off for a weeks holiday now but will look into it when I get back.
Thank you very much Lynn Henwood

Nice one, but I think it was a wildcat who won the collar for Gables, and the others bits which should follow. Come and join the Wildcats, where everyone is made purrfectly welcome. Viv

I have received a lovely letter of thanks from Many Tears for the items sent recently. Its really good to get a response, and brings home the fact that as well as enjoying the challenges and competitions making new PC friends and supporting our own rescues, we are also helping animals and people we may never have heard of, and will never meet. Me too Nicky ;D I think they are glad of any help they can get. Sylvia takes in lots of puppy farm rescues and really helps them to get new lives Alison had her Annie and Honey from Many Tears & they are both beautiful babies. Poor Annie spent the first 3 months at Many Tears being taken from dark into light as she'd spent her whole life in a dark barn

Just wanted you all to see what Chris from English Springer Spaniel Rescue, Ireland recently said in an email
"Also I want to thank you for all the prizes. The plastic dog bowls were very welcome as one of the young dogs was very sick when he came in so we used those & burnt them afterwards. Also the gloves & wipes were used then.Poor Flo, a very elderly springer, who came in last week has been wrapped in the fleeces so she can be kept warm & snug.Flo had been roaming the streets for a month & could barely walk when she was picked up.Round worms, tapeworms, kennel cough, infected paw, arthritis, hernia ,matted coat, fleas, bursitis lumps.on three legs. & exhaustion...She must be as tough as old boots !!"
It really opens your eyes to the kind of dogs all of these rescue homes take in and the wonderful work that they do, it also shows how needed the cleaning stuff is as prizes and also cheaper to post to the rescues in Ireland.
I'd personally like to offer a big thank you to everyone that has donated and sent prizes to the Irish rescues, I do appreciate that it costs more for postage but the reason I choose to have them as my nominated rescue is that they get so little help from elsewhere and know how much help they need to keep on rescuing these dogs. Thanks everyone

Selina, thank you so much for sharing that - yes the postage was a bit more, but so worth it - I'm pleased that the cleaning stuff was just what they needed. Poor Flo - hope she will be ok and that they will be able to find her a home for the rest of her days. ((((hugs)))) to all the s out there in rescue land, who help the poor suffering animals.

Staffycross is a new rescue but have done quite a good job since they started. They started to promote the Staffycross but found themselves with dogs in their care and rehoming as well as transporting them. I have just received this email from Allie, the lady who started it in reply to a Christmas parcel that Al sent.
hiya, Can you pass on my thanks to all at trpd for the goodies? Got them today. Its great thank you! allie

(blush.. thanks, Angela!!)
When I brought the coat from the coldie project to Happy Landings for Marlin, I was greeted with the word "we just got another collar" and was asked to say a heartfelt Thank You to everybody here at the board for the useful items they have been receiving. It's very much appreciated. (I had forgotten where this thread was and didn't know whereelse to write this)

Jutta I love hearing from all the rescues, I know how busy they all are and if they can spare five minutes to say a thanks then it spurs me on to give a bit more of my time in attempting to win them a few more prizes.

I received this from Angela at Tailends, I don't think she can believe what she is getting Thank you so much for the collars which arrived yesterday. They are ideal and especially as they are not leather as most ghd collars are. I do not use leather being a vegan though do have to use meat for the oldies as they often need tempting to eat. Hate handling it but it is an inperfect world isnt it. Thank you also for the lead which came a week or so ago. I so appreciate your kindness and support for my oldies. Best Wishes, Angela
