Just a quick update to say that because so many members seem to be away, have visitors staying, or indisposed at present, the third challenge task for this will be extended until the end of the month. The Wildcats are currently in the lead, although sales percentages can change very quickly, and there is plenty of opportunities for the Wolves to catch up. On the monthly sales challenge front, the Indies are ahead now. Perhaps some of them are undecided over which team to join or whether to remain independent, but perhaps the teams may be able to gain a few much needed recruits?

Only a few days before the end of the month and it's looking as if those poor Wolves have all but disappeared. Perhaps an urgent recruitment campaign might help to save the day for them? Can someone please remind me of the formula to work out percentages, please? ;D Ten bonus points to the team that does that in a way that I might actually grasp and remember it - or else can refer back here next time I forget!

If you are working out the total sales, then here is an example for you to enter your own figures:
£545 = total sales
£300 = wolves sales £245 = wildcat sales
£545/100 = 5.45 which is 1%
£300 / 5.45 = 55% £245 / 5.45 = 45%
Hope that helps Al!!!
If you get stuck shout

Thanks, Mary. I THINK I can follow that! (Remind me to add the bonus points when we total up, and if I forget. ) I think those figures are just examples, Dray. The actual ones so far this month for the teams, and as they affect the Apprentice Challenge are as follows: Wolves: £148.00 Wildcats: £351.74 Total: £499.74 There are some adjustments still to make, as some have not yet paid, and a couple of the categories haven't yet been claimed by a team, but have some sales. In general, sales are well down this last month, the postage fund is very low, and we have suppliers to pay for fittings etc. We all need to get our thinking caps on for the next task in this challenge. I'll post some details of what that will be once this one ends. Trying to think of what I can do this end that will help sales. Just not been up to the mark of late, and really need to get up into the workshop to see what I can find there. I'm hoping to put together a collection of limited edition, designer dog coats to auction to the highest bidders in September. (Just don't anyone tell 'Murphy'!!!)

This looks as if it will be extremely close between the teams! Could well go down to the wire and depend upon just a few payments coming in - or not, as the case may be!

I'm going to hold off giving the scores for the thirs task until Monday, to give those sending cheques, or who have sent them, a chance for their payments to count.
Challege 4 will relate to initiative and multi-tasking. ;D
Here are a few facts and thoughts that the team leaders may wish to think and brainstorm about...
1. At present, and before any adjustments for non-payments, Independent members' sales stand at £190.99p.
2. Payments outstanding for more than 7 days total: £44.50p.
3. We are still receiving messages stating that the forum is difficult for people to follow and find what they are looking for.
4. We need to further encourage some more of the rescue reps to actively encourage their rescues' supporters to become members here and participate in things like the quizzes and challenges to help their rescue. What can we do to attract them?
5. This being a member run forum seems to be lost on many members. How can we better carry that message? How can we encourage more members to ACT on their desire to support animals in the care of rescues?
6. Very few members here communicate well - me included, at times. What can we do to try and improve that?

Right this sort of relates to point 5 of the above post. I wanted to get a feel from the members on how they would like a sort of Mega Quiz. It would be team run and would require teams to work together to see who could get the most points and win. Prizes need to be discussed - i need to get a feel on what you would like e.g money for rescues or items etc. I would be quite happy to moderate the quiz and provide the prizes, its just an idea to get the teams back together and working well. Think of a Huggeeee sunday quiz ;D. Let me know your thoughts here or via pm. Sian xx

Jazz, hope you feel better soon.
I like quizzes too!
BUT....I personally think the big sticking point is that whilst a few more members are taking part we REALLY NEED to encourage members to join and access the forum. To let us know what they want/need for their rescues or for them personally. To really encourage us to help them, to help themselves.
Sales are low, does that mean there isn't demand for the items that TRPD provide? I saw greytsalukis list of other ideas though which was fab!!
We have wish lists up and running, requested by Rescues for items they need. There are still sufficient rescues that have NO donations against them, does this mean that the rescues don't want anything, that they aren't helping spread the word, that they are struggling and really need our help in promoting them? I don't know? But I do find it really disheartening to see. Many members on here are happy to spread their support round those who need it. They aren't necessarily tied to one rescue only.
I guess my question is how do we get people on to the forum and talking, without just coming on for quizzes/challenges etc (not to say that these shouldn't happen as they are great fun too) but how to we turn the forum into a place that people come to visit and where possible also purchase the items. Without the items being purchased TRPD will struggle to fund the donations they make, struggle to post the items out and struggle to continue making great items that many people and rescues love.

Get well soon, Jazz!
Picking up on Mary's point, this is a quote from a PM I recently recieved, and it may prove interesting...
Since we started, much of what we do has relied upon word of mouth recommendations, and the above is just one example of numerous similar comments I've received. One particular rescue lady has often commented to me that our coats are probably the best made/warmest they have ever had donated to them for their old hounds.
I've also received several positive comments my PM and email relating to the Armargos padded collars, and how light and comfy those are for use in kennels and the house, and especially for hounds with neck/throat and other medical conditions.
Credit for those has to go to Sheena, of course, as she had a similar item that she found ideal for her rescue dogs' needs, but wanted to obtain more. We just modified the design so they had a sherpa fleece padding.
Spreading the word when anyone has an opportunity to do so, and in a way that attracts rather than promotes, is vital to our survival, but we are up against one big problem, and that seems to be apathy, alas.

aw brackensmum you have our heartfelt sympathys. I wouldn't have considered you inactive but do let us/someone know if there is anything Pinkpaws or indeed yourself, needs! One thought I've had.... quiz prizes, I don't know how possible/feasible but when people send out quiz prizes is there any chance of them including something to say where the prize came from and why! I know Al has a form that she sends out with her prizes, but I also know that some rescues have received prizes without a clue as to why they've been sent them and by who! At least the information about the quizes/the prizes/the items etc get out and about! For some of the rescues, the prizes purchased and donated to VPB can be the first item a rescue sees from TRPD!
